| I like playing my guitar and I know I will need one during my contract in Seoul. I play electric or acoustic, but prefer electric. I have a custom-hard case for my nice electric guitar and wanted to ask the opinions of those in Korea as to whether or not I should bring it with me. Are amps cheap/easy to find in Seoul? What about guitar techs to fix my guitar after travel and warping? Thanks. |

Here we go, another "igotthisguitar" thread!
Oh, sorry. Yes. If you like to play it, bring it. It'll keep you company here and you won't need so much soju. I brought mine. The airlines took good care of it. I play acoustic though. Don't know about amps. |

| Of all the things I could've brought with me but didn't, the only thing I've really missed is my bass. If you are playing at least once a week, I can guarantee you'll miss it. Definitely bring it. Amps can be found. Your own personal guitar that you are comfortable with cannot. |

Dont bring it!
Korea abounds with thousands of cheaply priced/decent quality guitars.
If you bring it over you will just end up kicking yourself because it would be one more guitar to bring back home.
Several of my coworkers over the years have spent thousands on guitars while they were here as they are so cheap compared to USA.
Shipping them back was a bit of a pain but worth it.
In short....wait a month then go shopping, pick yourself up a decent guitar and your happiness will follow.
James picked up over 12 guitars in the year he was here and shipped them back to the states before he left. He figures the same bunch of guitars would have cost him over 15,000$ US if he had bought them back home.
He had several acoustic and elecitric guitars by the end of his visit. |
