My bloody university seals the transcripts with a ink stamp and then puts cellotape over it (even i admit it looks dodgy) and does not have proper wax seals. This means that immigration will not accept it, but i am not sure what to do. My universty will not put a proper seal on it, and immigration will not accept my universities seal, so i am screwed from both sides. Not quite sure what to do. My university is one of the main unversitys in NZ (about 15000 students). Why don't they put a bloody proper seal on it.

Sorry just needed a rant, like i said i am screwed

My college just uses an ink stamp, no tape. The solution was to have the ink stamp straddle the link between the flap and body of the envelope so that there was ink on both.

Dumb as *beep*? Yes. Worked? Yes.

Immigration must be a bunch of retards (sorry to offend any mentally handicapped people). This seal thing is a bunch of hogwash. They can just call the university. That's actually more of a reassuring way than a seal on a piece of paper.

I didn't even send a real transcript to get my visa, because it took too long. I just logged on to my school's website, copy+pasted the info about my transcript, and sent that as .html files to my recruiter. Seems to have worked.

Have they changed the rules in the past year?

Same here. I had no problems. Which immigration office are you dealing with?

Just recieved new information, the first transcript was declined due to the seal was misplaced, the latest one was declined due to DHL cutting open the envelope and cellotaping it back up (why? fck knows). I am not dealing with immigration, my boss is sorting all that out, maybe not the best idea but yeah.

I am in anyang so i don't know what office my boss is using. Just requested my third copy of transcripts so i will find out in a few days if i need a fourth

Wow, that's real bad luck, blackjack. My sympathy goes out to you.

When I finish my current job, I will not try to find another job in Korea precisely because of this transcript nonsense. My uni charges W100,000 per single transcript issuance, so imagine how much money I could be wasting if they don't put the correct seal on it. I don't want to risk it.

I had thought the whole thing of the confirmation of degree certificates was being designed so that immi could telephone the unis directly for proof of us having studied there, since it would seem to be a more veritable solution, but seems not so...

Ah, I had the same problem with DHL. Got into an argument with the DHL man over it. I had to open all sealed envelopes before he would take my documents and sneakily reseal them so they didn't look like they had been opened. What a nightmare. Apparently, FEDEX don't ask. Bad luck mate.

Jeez, another guy about to work in Anyang. What the hell is the deal with that place and jobs? Seems like half the people that I talk to online or offline, work in Anyang, have worked in Anyang, or know people working down there. It's like an ESL industry to its own self. Confused

Oh F*ck Exclamation .. I just ordered some transcripts and I think they are being sent DHL...

Immigration most probably won't call your university to confirm because:

A) It would be expensive to make that many overseas calls for all the ESL teachers here

B) There's probably less than 3 people in all the immigration offices here with English skills good enough to have a conversation with a native speaker over the phone.

Hopefully one day they'll drop this overly ambitious program to verify all degrees and just realize that culling the number of ESL teachers in Korea isn't going to raise the crap standard of English here.

...and I'm off on another rant... perhaps a significant number of Koreans believe that one day the whole world will be speaking Korean.. you know, the Korean wave... Rolling Eyes

There may be privacy issues for phoning -not sure though.

I also hear the date needs to be very recent (I guess there an "issued on" date inside. Anyone heard that one?

Get yourself a "dojang", put them in a new envelope and seal them... if they're authentic you have nothing to worry about.

DHL wanted to open the transcripts(making the entire process of sending them a waste of time). If you don't want your transcripts opened use UPS, they're quite reasonable and seem to be much better value than Fedex. They only open documents above a certain thickness and your transcripts don't qualify if they're just in a normal envelope.

100,000w per transcript issuance? Wow, your uni knows how to generate funds. I pay a big fat zero for mine.
