I am looking into teaching with a Canadian firm who pay for accomodation. I want to know if anyone has had any bad expereinces with Canadian firms and what to look for in terms of a contract. Confused

I think you should look for the same things that you would with any contract in Korea.

Free accommodation is standard. Two million won a month. Medical insurance, pension (although if you are from Australia it might be wise for you not to push pension, since you can't get it back). Round-trip airfare.

I don't think it makes much difference whether it's a Canadian, American, Australian or Korean who owns the school. All the same rules should apply.

I guess the benefit to working for a Canadian would be that they would be familiar with western culture, which would make your dealings with them much easier. But just because it's Canadian-owned doesn't mean it isn't a Korean-Canadian who owns and runs it, which would basically be the same as it being Korean.

This seems like such a strange question to me. It's like asking if anyone has ever had bad experiences with Australians. Aren't we pretty much the same? You know, British Commonwealth and all.....

You can't trust those Canadians... They don't keep thier promises, lie, eat bad tasting food, smoke too much, don't use reason when they think, and all look the same... ohh wait I get Canadians and Koreans confused sometimes because they're so much alike Wink
