Belatedly, bird flu found in 4 Koreans
Authorities here said yesterday that bird flu has jumped from poultry to humans in Korea, but in a manner that raised no suspicions at the time. Four quarantine officials apparently contracted the disease after culling poultry flocks in which avian influenza had been found in December 2003.... The late detection of the infections, the disease agency said, came about because of problems encountered when nations and international organizations began studying the disease intently because of the perceived risks of human infection.

But wait a minute... I'm confused. I thought kimchi (the miracle food) was supposed to make you immune from Bird Flu? Suddenly all that I held to be true is crashing down around me. Oh, the humanity!
Guess I'd better lay off the raw duck blood soup (with kimchi) until all this dies down. |

Uh, I think I'll be doubling up on my kim chee rations. Garlic anyone?
I suspect that these "Koreans" that caught Bird Flu - either aren't really REAL Koreans - or that have been out cavorting with foreigners! |

its all the western food they've been eating....could this somehow be blamed on the popularity of chicken McNuggets?

Yeah but the four that came down with bird flu didn't suffer any ill effects, hence it went undiagnosed for a long time. Koreans will undoubtedly use this to support the belief that kimchi is proof against bird flu. |

Are Chicken McNuggets made from chicken? I thought they were made from soy bean protein or styrofoam. |

| on tv here in the UK, they had an expert on who said that you only catch this bird flu from being in contact with the bird's feathers. So eating McNuggets will be ok....maybe |
