I really enjoyed this movie. Without giving away the ending, it reminds me of a novel written by Alexandre Jardin. Whoever wrote the screenplay must be familiar with his work. |

Bill Murray is at the top of his form again. He's really good in these dramatic roles. So is Jack Nicholson in About Scmidt.
B.F. is a good movie that is worth watching, but not a classic. I feel the same about Jim Jarmusch's (wrong spelling, sorry) previous film, Coffee & Cigarettes. Has its moments, but definitely a one watch movie. |

An aimless movie with no focus. Only pretended to have something worth saying, which is often enough for the arthouse crowd that won't admit it for fear of looking unsophisticated. |

The movie has a lot to say.. not quite sure how an intelligent person would miss it |

Ok... what did it say that wasn't utterly trite and better said by American Beauty (another shallow movie fawned over by the easily impressed)? |

Whatever man, stick to your vin diesel flicks.
If you can't apreciate movies like American Beauty or Broken Flowers on your own, no analysis of the movie by me is going to change that.

no focus? pretended to have something worth saying?
if you weren't entertained, say so. your critique sounds like something your prof said in cinema class. |

Just get it over with and call me stupid already, I think we'll both feel much better afterwards.

Well, I never took a cinema class (tried though). But I can see that it's easier to insult me than to say why my opinion is wrong. |

I kind of felt that way about Lost in Translation. And after watching Bokeback Screenplay, I cannot understand all the fuss: the characters were not developed, the reason for the relationship and what made it so special just never materialized, the leaps in time were poorly handled - particlarly with regard to make-up...
For the record, I am one of those Art House movie-goers, too. This just wasn't a well-made movie. I will say, however, that the scene at the end with the wife describing the death was excellent, as was the scene at the parents' house. Both were at the end of the movie, so may be swaying people. The movie as a whole? *** out of five, max. |

actually, i never intended an insult, such as you did when you said 'we aren't sophisticated enough to see that it has nothing meaningful to say'...
but, moving on, i'm curious why a movie should have something to say in order to be enjoyable...?
i saw the movie Fargo last night on TV. what does it say? nothing, except that you can grind a human body in a wood chipper.
am i easily impressed? |

I thought the film was good! for what it was trying to be.
showing different characters different situations just like he did with COFFEE and Cigarettes, he tries to show real people living real lives!
the films message was! we get old and things change! and people change!
the ending was your typical NOT hollywood ending!
coffee and cigarettes was about which segment did you relate to
same is this! which characters did you relate to.. or understand or know someone like that etc..
not a great art house film but good.. worth a watch..
A road movie!
sad thing is I could relate to many areas of the film.. |
