Does anyone know whether there has been a change in the tax rate this year? For Jan and Feb., the amount of national tax (ټ) withheld from my salary has dropped significantly from the average monthly deduction for the year 2005.

Anyone with a similar change??

Kalbi

http://www.nts.go.kr/eng/default.html

The tax site is still showing the same amt of 28,950 for 2mil...I assume there have been no changes unless the web-site hasn't been updated yet(possible). Maybe your place is actually taxing you the right amt for some reason? Maybe the tax man, or pension lady, or health guy came a knockin'?

Kalbi,

What's your salary? How much income tax were you paying? How much are you paying now?

Maybe you were way over taxed before. You might be due a big refund either from the Korean National Tax office if your boss paid in the money, or from your boss if he didn't.

Well.. I generally got a refund in January... so now that I think about it.. maybe they are just choosing to withhold a more accurate amount with no January refund.

To Roch:
Go to the link referenced above and fiddle around until you come to the section about filing online. Good Luck..
