I wonder if you could describe what you think makes her special.

I'm not trolling, just curious.

Is she not pretty?

To elaborate: there is a hyperbolic scale of on the one end "the flower of youth" and at the other end "womanly-ness." These are the two apexes of female beauty.

somebody quite obviously studied a fair amount of aesthetics as part of their philosophy degree!
come on mate... aren't you pushing this a little far.. plus she looks a little too near to the 'flower of youth' and not anywhere near enough to 'womanly-ness' yet if you ask me..

Exactly. And at the other rise to infinity are the Jennifer Lopez sorts. A woman lacking totally in both "flower of youth"-ed-ness and "womanly"-ness would approach the nadir of beauty? Possibly I am mistaken in thinking that the two would never intersect?

Maybe a different photo would be more appropriate:

Disappointedly, if judging by the number of PMs I have recieved, my imagined enthusiasm amoung foreigners for a Kang Eunbi Fan Club may have been tumid.

No offense, but she creeps me out in exactly the same way Barbies do.
As to why, I haven't quite put my finger on it...

meet at a bar and have the following discussion over beers?

you: she's hot, ain't she?

me: yeah.

you: see you next week?

me: same time, same place.

what, is the Hillary Duff fan club just not doing it for you?

*btw, it's always funny when somebody comes up with a really ridiculous idea, and then they feel like maybe they have to justify it by getting all grandiloquent.

for example, you have a grown man who wants to start a fan club for the star of 'Rainbow Romance,' and he's using words like 'tumid.'

Gorgias:

You could do what was done here or here

If some news comes up (e.g. new movie coming out, etc.), you could start a thread about it. If it piques anyone's interest, they might participate. If not, then, oh well.
It wouldn't be any worse than Rteacher's "1001 Reasons Why Being Vegetarian Is Good For You" or some of the other threads around here.

Satori, endofthewor1d, & billybrobby:

I think you made some good (and funny!) points about a grown man starting a fan club. However, I would like to share this observation.

If a man feels weak in the knees or has butterflies in his stomach because of a distant, unattainable girl, then that's "childish."

However, if a man goes to a bar, picks up a girl, and has a one-night stand with her, then that's "manly."

I don't think there's anything wrong with having a crush.

You can see that posters on this board have crushes on Kang Eunbi, Jun Ji-hyun, BoA, Mun Geun-yeong, Claudia Wells, and Lee Na-yeong.

My personal, pet theory is that most people have suffered from unrequited love when they were younger. Wanting to put these experiences behind them, they label such "immature." On the other hand, "scoring" is the mark of "maturity."

@Troll_Bait,

Hmm. Very interesting post.

I just thought it was rediculous-- didn't really expect that much enthusisam for starting a Kang Eunbi Fan Club; if some one had actually PM-ed me I would have been very surprised Shocked. I also hadn't realized that both you and @billybrobby had made such similar posts recently.

Still, I think I like Kang Eunbi better than Jun Ji-hyun, Mun Geun-yeong, Claudia Wells, or Lee Na-yeong. However Boa is certainly on my top list too. Is there not an ȿ thread?

Thanks for that information, I was starting to feel bad about this post. I feel so much more normal now.

I'm not that old.
