The REAL controversy that sticks out in my mind is the Korea v Spain game. Remember that? Spain had 3 - THREE! Shocked - perfectly legit goals disallowed!

Refereeing decisions totally favored the home side in those two games, Spain far more so than Italy because Spain, in normal circumstances, would've won that match and totally deserved to. Italy deserved to lose.

that game was a travesty to decent officating, I bet we could find 2 people sitting in 3 Alley pub train them for 5/6 hours and provided they were in decent physical shape would do a better job than those morons.

In fact because of that game FIFA decided to chose crews of the same country. i.e. an American referee will have american linesmen on a match, hopefully these guys would have worked together before. If a crew is familar with each other then they will likely work better. In top matches in NA on the ameteur level, the referee usually picks his linesmen provided they are qualified, makes for a much better officated game

The eye....I am not talking about the series itself...I am talking about the documentary produced in Canada to cover it (my dad a hockey maniac sent me the DVD here... Laughing ).

I am talking about the distortion between the event itself and what is shown on the documentary: a very clear, pro-canada, bias.

to come to that conclusion, you would have to remember the origional series as it was broadcast 30 years ago.

are you saying you can do that?

No, I am saying that my dad owns two copies of the original series as it was broadcast and that I have also seen it broadcast on re-run by the CBC a couple of times...does that satisfy your high comparative standards? Wink

I've made a blog covering the Korean national team's progress towards this upcoming world cup. For my opinions on this game, refer to that site, and please check out the other blogs. Some decent writing there.

Spain had the better argument re: biased refereeing. Spain were actually robbed.

They were the victims of dodgy calls indeed.

Robbed?

I don<t know about that.

They did choke big time in the shoot out however and no ref can be blamed for that.

The funniest example of sports editing was the commonwealth games I watched when I was in Australia. The score chart left NZ completely out and so you saw all the medal tallies of other countrys and then a gap where NZ was. I also saw that in an olympic event one time, where NZ came in 2nd and they showed the 1st and the 3rd and missed NZ altogether. It happens. Rolling Eyes
