I am looking for a movie that has short segments (5-10 minutes) ala Michael Moore��s 911 or Bowling for Columbine but I have used Michael Moore already.

Baraka is stunning but there's no dialogue. There was a really good one about highschool basketball players. Forget the title though.

Documentary about students attending an alternative high school in Kentucky. You'll have to stop the movie ever five seconds to correct gramatical mistakes and your students' view of America/Americans will changed forever.

"Born into Brothels" is pretty amazing, but the subject can make people uncomfortable. "Promises" is a pretty interesting one about Israeli and Palestinian kids. And your students might see a parallel to Korea and Japan.

Any 10 minute segment of Deadwood, on HBO. Not a documentary, but it'll definately be a conversation starter.

There was that documentary about moral reasoning psych 101 students have to see in university... the one in which a guy is told to administer questions to another guy whom he cannot see on the other side of a wall. If the guy gets the questions wrong, the other guy shocks him. Each time the guy gets another one wrong, the voltage of the electric shock he recieves gets higher.... At some point, the voltage gets so high it must be killing the other guy.. but actually the experiment is to see how far the guy who is administering the questions and shock will go before he stops and then find out why he stops... an experiment to test a hypothesis about levels of moral reasoning... It sounds complicated but actually I remember the level of language wasnt too hard at all... Only problem I dont remember the title. Does anyone out there know what I'm talking about?

What about the "7 up" series by Michael Apted. It follows the lives of some children and he interviews them every 7 years. It's exploring the idea that our personality is formed as a child and that we do/don't change much....fascinating for me.

Thanks for the tip about country boys. Just watched one episode and sure damn well reminds me of my youth in N. Ont.....interesting in many ways......

I have many docs to recommend but don't know what could be found online......my fav. documentary was the one about the wheelchair guys who played wheelchair rugby....forget the name, saw it while back in Canada last summer. Awesome, inspiring. Made me think of the disabled as normal humans, assholes and angels alike...

Anyone remember the name??? Great documentary about the world championships ...
