I'm trying to call my bank to find out why my ATM card doesn't work and the only number I can find for it is an 800 number. Does anyone know how I can dial that from a phone in Korea? |

I think most, if not all 800 numbers for companies in North America can only be dialed from inside North America.
Maybe you can find you bank's local phone number on the internet, and then call them that way? |

The "Peace" card works for 1-800 numbers, and I think the "MVP" card works.
You can buy cards for American phone cards in a lot of places- here in Daegu the best place is the base. I would imagine the base and Itaewon would be good in Seoul.
Not all cards work for 1-800 numbers, but most do. You have to pay for the call (Peace card is 4 cents a minute!)
I call my bank's 1-800 number regularly. |

In the past I was able to call credit card companies collect from Korea. (If you can find a non-800 number.) I would just say "OiGirl from Korea" and they'd accept the call from a customer. |

Hmm....I don't remember! I think I dialed something ("0", maybe?) and said "collect call" and if the operator didn't understand me, I hung up and tried again. |

Some banks might have International numbers.. Poke around your bank website.I know the Royal in Canada does have one for certain things though they may not have the section you want but you would be speaking to someone at the bank who can then transfer you over to the department you want to speak to. |
