I was talking to a Korean coworker that went to New Zealand for a month long homestay and she commented on one thing that she thought that was disgusting about waygooks. She said that the way we do dishes is gross. Apparently, washing dishes in a tub of hot water with soap is gross to Koreans because the water is full of germs from the soaking dishes. I have tried to do the dishes at work and always get pushed aside by the Koreans.

I, however, do not see how running dishes under cold water with no soap and rubbing the dishes with dirty hands that have not been washed after going to the washroom can be more hygenic. Unless of course you place the dishes under an ultraviolet light Rolling Eyes

Oh, we're such barbarians. We don't clog up the sidewalks, push people out of our way, or attempt to enter a building/elevator/subway before others have exited. We don't spit on the floor or (rarely) puke on the street. We don't invade the personal space of others. We queue at banks and airports. We wash our hands after doing our bathroom business. Clearly, there's no hope for the likes of us in the idyllic Land of the Morning Clamor.

What do they think of us? Some of them think that some of us think we are racially or culturally superior. Some of them think that some of us look down on Koreans and other asians. Some of them think some of us are self centered, egotistical and irresonsible. Some of them think that some of us are incompetent, uncaring teachers. Some of them think that some of us are only here for the easy money. Some of them think that some of us couldn't get a decent job at home. Some of them think that some of us are here for sex. Some of them think that some of us are proud of how many Koreans we have banged. Some of them think that some of us wouldn't hesitate to get a Korean girl pregnant and then abandon her. Some of them think quite a lot of different things.

I second the dishes thing, its amazing to me how koreans can think there dishes are clean after the way they wash them. During winter camp I had them bake choco chip cookies and some of them burnt to the bottom of the pan. What they did to clean them was take chop sticks try and scrap it off, run it under cold water and rub it with there hands. Not clean at all so I made them do it properly all the while making an english lesson out of it. Step by step. They were shocked about the whole thing "but teacher take long time to do".

They were suprised with how clean the cookie sheet was after though.

I shidder to think what the restaurants are doing to was th dishes!!!!!

i don't really like either one of those methods. the soaking in dirty soapy water thing is just icky to me. and naturally the cold water and no soap thing is gross too. i use soap and running hot water. and then i actually do put them in the dish dryer, ultraviolet, time machine thing. i like to think that at least if i'm not killing the germs, i'm either giving them cancer or helping them evolve into something cool.

I think the Western way of doing that is quite weird too! I never got used to it and my family never did it that way. You just get a bunch of soap, a big ass brillo, and start scrubbin'. That's the Latin American way. If you need to soak anything, you put soap and water in it and set it aside.

Bread is for poor people, WTF? Decent bread here (if you can even call it decent) is really expensive. I could buy that white crap they sell in supermarkets here for about 15 pence back home if I was desperate, which im not because the bread selection at home is extensive and brilliant. Bread rules!

Hey, I'm with you. I'm Italian and our love for bread is second only to our love for our Mommas. That and a good marinara sauce. Or if you're A St. Louis Italian, as I am, Imo's Pizza and toasted ravioli. But I digress and plug.

Bread is terrible! The spawn of Satan! The worst food around!

But then I say that 'cause I'm allergic to wheat. Wish I could get some nice spelt bread here. Or 100% Rye. Now, that I could eat..... Wish I had some tasty corn tortillas.

Oh, well, there's alway ddeok, and I have no complaints about that. Ddeok, too, is the staff of life..... so at least I don't hafta starve. And when I return to my own native place I'll have a whole 'nother bag of allergy issues to deal with.......

Korean men often find it odd and noteworthy that I don't smoke.

I think they are wierd things too. Especially the fake boobs, you see them on programmes like Maury and it makes me want to throw up. I also hate men having long smelly poos while reading the newspaper. It's only men that do that, right? My dad used to do that when I was young and I hated it. Guns are evil.

I'd rather have someone be reading in the john, than smoking while taking a dump. THAT is a pervasive Korean hobby.

Why be bothered by either? Are you next to the dumper? Who cares what he does? Doesn't smoke smell better than crap?

Back to the pubic hair. There needs to be commercials or something telling the people of Korea to trim their damn pubes.

The females: I successfully taught my girlfriend how it should be done, but now she feels shy in the locker room because the rest of the Korean women don't do it.

The males: Their apparatus isn't as big as it is (based on my experience at my gym) and yet they continue to grow these nasty afro pubes that covers their family jewles. If you trim it looks bigger.

Plus who in both sides of the female/male spectrum wants for go down on something like that?

Agreed with dogbert. Up till quite recently, it was quite a peculiarity if you were a male and didn't smoke.

The health warnings seem to have taken hold with some of the more educated, elder population, but the percentage of men right out of the army who smoke seems quite high.

I got funny looks when I was humming along to my portable music player or giggling aloud at jokes in books/magazines when I'm on the subway. I usually get a curious or friendly smile when I'm back home in the same situation.

A margarine holder. Must be for times of extreme constipation.
