hey everybody,
..was 2 years in inchon, just finished some studies back home for a year and am contemplating coming back to korea. just wondering what your experience was like coming back for 2nd timers and so on..and whether any of you had a bit of doubt before leaving to go there, but found that it was different once you got there, in a good way i mean.
i'm caught in a bind with korea, it's like knowing something will be good, but at the back of my mind have a few doubts..like bungee jumping. |

Unless it's for money don't come back. I also returned here but for money and money only. There are just so many better countries to go to. I lived in 4 countries and traveled to a few more - $$$$ is the only reason to return here. |

I was here before and had a disastrous experience. I broke the first contract after 4 months(midnight run). I went to Thailand for a month and got another job, I lasted 5 months.
I then went to Vietnam and started teaching there. I worked at an excellent school. I learned a lot and had a great time, I also got my CELTA. I worked there for two years and realized that it wasn't the teaching that peesed me off in Korea, it was working in a hogwan.
So I needed money to fund my trip to south america.....so Korea here I come again. This time I was way more choosy.....Public School. I have really enjoyed this year. I will be very happy to leave but I'm glad that I have a much better view on Koreans and Korea this time around. I am also a better teacher and this makes my job so much easier.
Final note......I would never consider this place permanent but not too bad if your priority is cash.
CASH IS KING!! |

yeah, i think cash is the driving factor here as i have a project in mind that i need to buy time for. so korea pretty much wins.
after i saw other places, i knew inchon wasn't for me but my school was pretty good so i stuck it out.
trying korea again in different conditions could be worthwhile. |

I've lived in three countries and travelled to over 30. This is a great place to live and teach. I don't know if it would be high on my backpacker recommendation list, but if you enjoy teaching and aren't at a crap hogwan this is the place to be. |
