I believe the leafs faults are within the player selections and the coach, they seem to pick up has beens all the time, lindros, allison to name a couple off the top of my head. It they are going to sign guys like that at least take the guys that have decent work ethics.
Furthermore I believe they have the worst coach in the NHL at the moment, Quinn is useless in my opinion. He can't coach plain and simple, whatever he does to motivate the players to play and believe in a system has not worked at all.
The GM needs to fire Quinn yesterday, the GM should also be on the chopping block, trade Sundin for draft picks while they can get something for him. They need to build a team from scratch not contiune to look at signing washed up guys. Place Allison, Lindros on waivers and promote some guys from the farm. Trade Tucker, he is a guy other teams would like to add for the stretch run. The leafs will not make the playoffs so they might as well clean house.
Most of all fire Quinn, the only thing he has ever won was the world cup once. If you watch his interviews he never says anything about how he will work with the players to make changes, all he does is state what they are doing wrong. Sure sign of a coach that himself is clueless as how to improve.
Having said that maybe they shouldn't do any of those things so I can continue to enjoy laughing at the Maple Laughs Ha Ha!! |

Yeah, the problem is, they're still playing like it's 1985...
Come to think of it, last I checked, the home rink was even playing some of the same music from 1985.
Understandably, they may still be stuck mentally in the glory-years of occasional semi-final eliminations past. (Who could forget those heady days of 1978... ) |

Trade deadline is gone and the leafs failed to do much of anything.
The dealt klee and got a russian prospect playing in the AHL.
Then they acquired journeyman defenceman Luke Richardson and invited him for his second tour of duty.
Also they waived Marious Czerkawski.
Looks as though all of the anti leaf people can continue to get chuckles about there lack of performance and the reluctancy of the GM to do anything about having a losing team.
KEEP QUINN if you want to keeeeep losing,
All smiles as I dislike the leafs |

To be fair,
The Leafs are paying the bill for years of short sighted player management. For years at the deadline they traded prospects and draft choices to get big name players who either bolted at the end of the year or simply made the team older.
Now, they are stuck, at this deadline, they were stuck against the cap with a bunch of un-movable players (ex: Allison with his ridiculous contract). Perhaps they want to re-sign McCabe this summer (bad move if you ask me).
They are heading for rebuilding mode if Ferguson has the balls to do that in TO instead of going after a cheap fix this summer by signing one or two older big name players. |

As a long time Canucks fan, yes it is Quinn's fault. Trust me. Welcome to suck. Get comfortable leafs fans, you're going to be around the basement for a loooooong time. |

So many people hate the Leafs, more so than any other team in any sport (except perhaps the Yankees). Why is that?
For me, it's the arrogance of their fans, the fact that the media in Canada treat the Leafs as Canada's team (when it isn't), the fact that, year after year when the Leafs would lose in the playoffs (or not even make it to the playoffs), Bob Cole would replace Dick Irvin (the voice of hockey) as the play-by-play man for Habs games, and the fact that their name is grammatically incorrect (Leaves).
Interestingly enough, teams in most sports who haven't won the championship in decades often get some sympathy from opposing teams' fans (Cubs, Red Sox & White Sox - until recently - in baseall, NY Jets and Indianapolis in football).
The Leafs are just hated. Even by some people in Toronto... |

The cbc coverage of hockey is indeed a comedy.
They should just admit it to themselves and call it the Maple Leafs Hockey Night and not Hockey Night in Canada.
The broadcast team is so pro Leafs that watching a game becomes a joke.
When the Leafs are ousted from the playoffs (a regular occurence) the hype dies down and the coverage becomes less energetic, including the promo.
This is a real joke and perhaps it helps explain why the Leafs are the only canadian team that gets hate from across the nation.
The fact that some of their fans are rabid maniacs who see the Cup in their hands every year and boast to others that the Leafs rule is also a reason for national irritation.
The Leafs have not won anything since Pearson was the PM....yet they act like Canada's team...at least the Yanks won recently... |

All that coverage is regional. In Quebec and east, they show Habs and Senators games, and in Alberta they show Edmonton or Calgary games, and in BC, Canucks games. It just sucks living in the Leafs breadbasket of headcase fans.
My favourite was when people use to say the Leafs were the best team, meanwhile they didn't make the play-offs... HELLO |

I wouldn't brag. The Habifucks have less of a chance to win the Cup than the leafs from now till the end of time. The Canadiens are screwed now. This is coming from a Flyers fan who's having a hard time as well, but Montreal is truly screwed (I hope). Recently they're doing well, but that will change.
Leafs suck though. |

They're not even the best team in Ontario.
They're the worst NHL team in Canada. Montreal's the second worst. Ha! |

It's pretty stupid to *hate* a sports team.
Then again maybe that is just my female logic at work again...
You men get so riled up about such things. |
