I can see that what you have is not an attitude but an opinion and a brain (OMG, it's unheard of!), though I'm not a guy and I'm not struck blind by yellow-fever...though I too have a thing for Jet Li, and I agree the Are You Gentle guy is hot. Now, some guys are confident enough to handle a woman with brains as well booty, and some are not. I am happy to leave those in the latter category to other women.

It's funny when you are in Korea and you read sites like this and hear from other guys about how great Korean women are compared to girls abroad, particularly your home country...After a few years, you are almost completely convinced that it's TRUE.

Then, you finish your job, go home or take a trip elsewhere in your home country and realize "DAMN! It's a beautiful world"

The fine ladies are everywhere. Lower proportion in Western countries? No, much broader land. Where the hell else are Korean girls gonna go outside of Seoul, Busan, or Daegu?

Also, don't lower your standards because of the fact that you only see Korean ladies every day. They aren't ALL that hot. Sure, they wear skirts and high heels more often, but that only goes so far...

Dear Spinoza, I am sure you are a man of inordinate intelligence. So I am also sure you will understand why I brought up Jade's intelligence. Prior to her post, there were some people who were commenting on the perceived attitude of western women. I don't know their particular experiences, however, I generally find, when a man brings this up, it usually has something to do with the lady having an opinion, an opinion that differs from theirs. Granted, an opinion does not equal intelligence, however, I thought Jade's post was well thought out and intelligently constructed.

I did not comment on the intelligence of Korean women. I have met many intelligent Korean women. However, most of the Korean women I have met also look for something very different in men. I have talked to a number of them about this. The first thing on their list (of those I've talked to) is generally money, followed by kindness or gentleness. The first thing on my list is intelligence, and by this I don't mean booksmarts, I mean the ability to have an interesting and engaging conversation. I don't avoid people who are less intelligent that I am, it would be such a lonely life after all . However, when looking for someone to spend a great deal of time with, I want someone intelligence and wit. So the second item on my list is a sense of humour, something you also seem to have in spades. I'm sure we'd get along famously.

Why are you still talking about this? Jeezus. I said the girls in the USA were still georgous (sp). SFW. I did not say anyone else was not. I stated a preference which is fine, I did not denigrate others. I think I am accused of acts of omission. Ya well ho hum.

The girls that touched my psyche when I was 16 are still special to me. They had first names like "Karen" and "Sharon" and last names like "Schroeder" and "Wysong" and "Janiszcewski". The had nice hair and nice clothes and had a body that was excitingly different than mine. When you leave an impression with a man at that stage, he stays impressed pretty much forever.

Yea I had a good time here. I enjoyed the bohemian coffee shops and the packed bars and that pee water beer We yanks are so good at making.

this guy applauds you jade for your comments. Maybe many of the guys here go ape for Korean women because they are such losers that a north american woman would have nothing to do with you and the only girls you can get are wide-eyed Korean women who think you are the best NA has to offer (of course there are some korean girl-western men couples that this does not apply to) and you are better than most Korean men.

as jade said the mix here is about the same as in NA, nothing different here.

What about with friendships? Some guys are still into dating western women, some say the Korean women are better... but what about when you want someone to -talk- with who can understand you?

All you men who prefer Korean ladies (or insult western women) are you friends with western men, or Korean men? Do you have any --real-- or at least semi-decent Korean male friends? Are you able to conceive of friendship (real friendship) with a Korean guy?

I think if you have no (interest in making) Korean male friends, which means you must not really understand the culture of the women you are/want to date(ing), then you have a fetish, I'd say. How can you think you'll understand her if you can't understand the way her father or brother acts?

Now, this is just me, but I figure if you prefer Korean women, you are still --open-- to having a Korean guy for a friend, but if you are one of these people who insults western women and objectifies Korean women, then I'd say you probably have no interest in Korean male friendships, and the guys you hang around with (if you hang around anyone besides your woman that is) are western, too.

I don't mean to dis anyone who didn't click with a Korean guy friend yet... I mean, making friends isn't always that easy, but --are you open to it?--

It seems that the same people who call western women names are the same ones who call Korean men names... curious, isn't it?

I had a couple of Korean male friends, one of whom I was quite close to, that I fell out of touch with after I moved (and then the one I knew better moved to the US). Unfortunately most of the Korean men I know now are older co-workers, but I like hanging out with them from time to time. There are also a couple of younger guys I hang out with at the gym. Actually, it would be nice to have more English-speaking k-friends of both sexes where I live. I have no problem with k-guys at all - it's boorish, drunken ajoshis who think they're king shit who get under my skin.
