I guess noise here is just accepted as a necessary annoyance. Proof of this is in the construction of apartment doors, I am convinced that an apartment door is contructed of just 2 sheets of cheap metal. There's absolutely no noise insulation. If break-ins weren't a problem at all in this country, rice paper doors would be equally as good.

What gets me is that people will walk through apartment halls after midnight talking at the same volume as they do in busy public places - and no one complains! It's such a huge invasion of privacy. I feel like they're in my room.

Make it the noise decathalon and add things like
  • talking loudly on cell phones
  • Mr. Microphone in the supermarket
  • students in the hallway during exams
  • expressing oneself after drinking water on a hot day on the mountain
  • gas tank delivery
  • door-to-door truck goods sales
  • etc...

Don't forget the music to which the girls in miniskirts dance to at store openings...well, okay. I could learn to live with that one. Wink

How about Adjuma Mud Wrestling? I'd pay to see that.

Or a new event Adjoshi long distance spitting contest?

The next event will be Not Pushing In Chairs (can't think of a clever way to say that).

99% of my students do not put in their chairs when they leave the class and it's even worse in my closet of an office. Five of us crammed in to a small room filled with desks, book shelves, a computer, printer, copier, laminater etc. etc. and you'd think they would realize that hey! If we push our chairs in when we get up, it makes walking around a lot easier! But no, I have to do it every time and trip several times for my trouble. Mad

Do Korean children tilt back in their chairs much? You know, lifting the front legs off the floor and sort of balancing/hovering on the hind two? I have two (adult) friends who have that bad habit, and so annoying do I find it that I will actually arrange furniture/seating so they end up having to sit on sofas or armchairs.

Oh good god do they ever....it's one of the more infuriating things I see on a day to day basis. It's gotten to the point now where my kids know better. If i catch someone doing it now I'll either yell at them maniacally or subtly slide my foot behind the back leg and send them for a spill. Believe me it takes one or two times pullin that trick on them and they learn. It just shows a lack of respect when you're trying to have a quality class and one or two jokers are lackadaisically leaning back against the wall or what have you not giving the slightest amount of attention to the matter at hand. Lettin good ol Uncle CapeBreton give em some of that smooth down home English.
