That's interesting since the Koran, like the bible, is a collection of other people's recollections of what they THINK he said while alive, and were collected over a period of time, not in a moment, and were ALL thrown into the Koran without any vetting...

Hmmm....

no, that would be the hadiths.

What you claim would be considered heresy, and no self-respecting muslim would agree with you. Therefore, it does not matter if you are historically accurate or not.

For more on American/Iranian histroy, specifically American interference of democracy in Iran, check out All the Shah's Men: An American Coup and the Roots of Middle East Terror, by Stephan Kinzer.

Kinzer is justly criticized here for (a) failing to give sufficient attn to this being a joint U.S.-British covert operation and (b) failing to consider that nearly three decades of history elapsed between 1953 and 1979 which also played a role in Iranian events, and 9/11.

After 9/11, it became fashionable for scholars and journalists to write a string of "look at all the shamefull things the U.S. has done" accounts. "Look at their behavior!," they scream, "no wonder bin Laden attacked them!"

We saw the beginnings of a backlash against this, starting with a French scholar no less, but it has not yet gone far enough.

The simpletons still dominate the "debate." And Kinzer took advantage of 9/11 to recycle old material and write a new book that does not give us any new information, only new spin.

How is family honor restored when an Arab-Muslim male is raped? Just wondering.

A. This book should not be discounted because it was published after 9/11.

B. From the book, "Operation Ajax was a coup plotted by American and British intelligence agents to overthrow Iranian Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh." Kinzer focuses on American involvment because America took the lead, particularly when the British decided to back out before the first of two actual coup attempts.

C. One of the main points Kinzer argues throughout this book is that the West, Americans, have short-term memory in regards to history. Three decades of history? As in, "Oh, that happened thirty years ago, why can't the Iranians get over it?" Islam has a long-term memory in regards to history and I'm sure someone else will be willing to argue this point for me.
