Hi,

I'm planning a lesson about kinds of TV shows.

But not being a big TV watcher (let alone Korean) I'm a bit stumped!!

I need names of a bunch of TV shows and their genre.

OK for Dramas thanks!

THANK YOU so much for any help - you're stars!

and GAG Concert -- comedy sketch shows with a live audience.

PDø (sp?) -- investigative journalism. Usually known in English as PD Notebook it was the show that really went after Hwang Woo-suk.

XMen -- kind of like a funny gameshow played in teams, but nobody wins anything. Not as far as I can tell anyway.

Heart to Heart -- interview show on Arirang. Language used depends on who's being interviewed.

The videogame show that pits two 10-year olds against two hot chicks in games of Kart Rider or Crazy Arcade. Dunno the name of this one but the kids always win.

Guys and Girls - a group of male and a group of female friends go after each other producing nothing but homoerotic overtones.

Francesca Anyong (Hello Francesca) - the misadventures of a group of Vampireesses.

Pride, UFC, and K1 - oh yeah, that's right, you also work at a girls school.

Superkids - a new trivia show in which an annoying tit asks irrelevant questions to twelve-year-olds more intelligent than he is.

CSI is also very popular here.

Celebrities have to try and recognise which of the thirty or so people sitting around the studio are their old classmates.

Brain Survivor

A bunch of celebrities sit in rows at small desks, they have to watch clips and answer questions. Each desk has got a mini-camera attached, so you get this distinctive shot where you see a grid of their faces and x or o depending on whether they got the question right.

School Attack -- on Korean MTV. Basically they picky a school to have a concert only the kids don't know it. So they go up to the auditorium for a boring something or other and BAM! With the rush of kids to the front it's incredible nobody gets trampled to death.

When they did it at Derrek's school 18 girls had to be taken to hospital. Thankfully I think my school's too small to get attacked.

My fave shows:

Dan Dae Han Do Jun - a game show in which the 'Old Boy' and the 'Young Boy' teams have to battle it out in silly sports rounds in a TV studio. They've had lots of sports celebrities on their shows showing how it 'should be done.' Very funny regardless of whether you understand any Korean or not.

I love all the animal shows: Dong-Mul Jun Ha, Dong-Mul Nong Jang, and Joo-Joo Club. The shows camera crews present a short about some special pet who has unusual idiosyncracies. Very funny.

Do the shows say something about my mentality? Perhaps...

might be the most popular drama now. It concerns the exploits of the prince and and his commoner girlfriend in present day Korea. Its a fusion of a Joseon-era court drama and a high school love story.
