I would like to know how long I would be allowed to teach in korea. I have already been here 2 years. Someone told me 5 years is the max. IF so,,,is there an extension? Thanks!

You can teach in Korea for as long as you want. Some universities have a 5 year maximum at that university, at which time you would have to find a new job. |

Public schools have a 5 year limit for Korean teachers. Perhaps no foreign teachers have survived that long, hence, it's never been addressed by immigration or the public school system. |

Some schools have a limit as to how many years you can teach at that school, but there is no limit for the country. I'm on year 11. |

My university had a 5-year limit. They wanted me to work part-time for one term and then start again full-time the following term. I moved on. Happy I did. |

yeah...you're being funked with. I've met teachers who have been teaching here close to 20 years at the university level.
Korean elementary school teachers get moved around to different schools in order to help keep the school fresh and also because some locations are more desirable than others. My co-teacher in Yongtong was moved to another school after 7 years. I think it depends on the gu office, municipality and that kind of stuff. |

Well on my fifth year at the same school. They haven't mentioned that I must vacate. But who knows. Teach in public middle school.

I've just entered my 12th year teaching here this month by renewing my
contract at a high school. As far as I know, I can teach here until I'm 60,
if anybody would want me at that age. A senior citizens' class anyone? |

Well I think that some universities have a three year limit and then you have to move on. |

The limit is now 2 years. You'd better start packing. |
