I am taking the midnight express So I can go home to some sanity and good food Anyhow, on my visa under #of entries, it has an M...so I am going to stupidly ask if this stands for Multiple??
I am only worried that immigration will harass me on my way out....also I am planning on leaving the day that I have to be at work...which is in the afternoon but I should be on the plane about 2 hours early...does this sound wise...or should I just go on the weekend and suffer through another week of worK?? |

Are you rinnung on a contract because you want food and "sanity"? if so, that makes you selfish, irresponsible and a loser. yeah, sorry to break it to you. Unless there are serious issues vis a vis contractual obligations not being met, then running on a contract because you miss mommy makes you what I said. And that is indeed the case, I hope you do get hassled big time. People like you make all of us look bad. |

Actually I am not running cause I want food or sanity..that is only something I miss. I am leaving cause my contract has been breeched and both my co-worker and I have been having problems. I have tried talking with my boss and AD but to no avail....so leaving is to save my sanity cause if I stay any longer to keep my contract I will not have any cause each day I am having problems at work.
Thanks to all of those who feel the need to take their obvious frusterations out on people who are just writing to ask for advice....remember that when you read these boards you do not know the whole story. I have worked overses in many countries and have never left a contract before. |

From the tone of your post it seemed to me you were running because you missed mommy and food. Notice that in my post I state that contractual breeches are pretty much the only reason to skip town. if that is indeed the case then fine. |

Yes, i can see that by my tone it seemed like that but I actually only put the line in there about food and sanity as an opener. I am not at all selfish nor a loser. I am leaving cause I cannot stand to be taken advantage of at work nor work for a school that does not have the best interest of the children at heart. We should all remember that this board can be used as a vent to tell the world about our problems or we can post in faith and hope that others will answer our questions and not just reply with rude opinions.
That said, I am not the only person to ever break a contract...for what ever reason and that said I am still here and debating about it which is why I posted in the first place. |

I never said YOU are a loser. I said that people who skip out because of homescikness are. As that doesnt apply to you, its clear I didnt call you a loser. |

If your contract has been breeched, you have some recourse. Why not visit the Ministry of Labor.
By the sound of what you have written thus far on this thread, (and i don't mean to pass judgement), you sound like you are wound a little tight. Also, one can only be taken advantage of, if they allow themselves to be.
Maybe we need more details about your situation.
The bottom line is, running should be a last option.
I understand the school has not kept all of it's word, and it doesn't have the best interests of the students, but that is not far out of the norm here.
Perhaps you could give the Ministry of Labor a try. They can mediate for you. Otherwise, if you just want to run, then don't complain about those of us who question your motives. |

I have seen loads of people claim 'breech of contract' because they didn't get a microwave oven and the contract said 'furnished apt'....and by god where I come from a furnished apartment means a microwave!
Please define 'breech' of contract. The boss put Moon-Soo in my class and he should be in a lower level class, just because the boss wants the tuition? |

Well, I am not complaining...just simply stateing that people should not really judge rudely when they do not know all the facts.
Here is a fact for everyone......I have maintained my professionalism as well as my maturity level and have not been stressed out over everything bad that has happened but with that said.....over time as things keep happening you start to question why you should stay when it is obvious that your efforts have not been respected or even noticed.
When I first got here I was placed in a house where the previous teacher at my school had been sexually assulted and ended up breaking her contract. I only came to know this after the same man attempted to do the same thing to me...when I asked and told the AD about it and the previous teachers...I was told to my face that yes it happened but that the school did not believe her because she was foreign and they thought she just wanted to leave her contract. I stayed because I had a responsibility that I signed up for, and when I demanded to move they fought it at first saying that the school did not have enough money....after I contacted the labour board they relented.
SO yes, I have contacted the board in the past but things have not gotten better so I am just going to jet. I consulted the other teacher at my school and he too said that I would be shafted on my pay so just to go.
So MaAHSalaama to all. |

I think you've timed it perfectly - just on the plane by the time school is starting. A weekend would be preferable.
As for the visa thing, if you have a multiple re-entry visa you should have a square, purple stamp on the page opposite your E2 visa that says 'Re-entry permit'. It doesn't sound like you have one. Just tell immigration that there were problems at your hogwan and you had to leave. Tell them there were financial problems or something like that.
Since you have two other unhappy co-workers, is there no way you could persude one of them to leave, too? It would be a *lot* more effective if the two of you could disappear at the same time.
Whatever you do, make sure wongjongnim-babo is informed of exactly why you ran, and good luck with things. |
