Irrespective of immigration laws, I think private tutoring is illegal.
That's not to say it does not happen. |

Register for a private tutoring license through the Ministry of Education, then it's legal (I believe) as long as you're submitting the necessary taxes. |

Go to the main Ed'n Office(North, South, East, West) near you. I haven't done it yet, but I may be doing so either very soon or in about two years' time. I think there was a thread about this on EFL-Law. In Boo-sahn anyway, one branch refused to issue the license to one person, while another already had his from a different branch. They asked some questions at headquarters(Seoul), and I think the outcome was that the the branch ended up grudgingly giving the license to the second guy. I believe they put a monthly, not hourly, amt on the front of the card.
Your wife may be able to find some more info for you here:
http://www.moe.go.kr/
...and try to find that other thread(maybe PM <randallkarl> or <darkpoet> over at EFL). |

Ok. Hers my question. Is it ok under IMMIGRATION law though? I just dont wanna have to do any explaiining if immi is called. Would like to just flash the f5 and make them go away. Ive been told by immi I can do any job whatsoever. The MOE Im not worried about. |

There was another thread on there(before the changes to F-2-1s) where someone was saying that immigration decision prevails over the MoE. Koreans do it, as do some foreigners(F-2s/F-4s from what I can tell). I'd say call immigration and ask them directly; but then again, with an F-5, do you really have to? If you have an F-5 and you are registered through the Ministry of Ed'n and possess a license and you are paying appropriate taxes, there should be no issue, right? Even if they sent in an ITU(Immigration Tactical Unit), you have all your bases covered. |

ive heard horror stories about assaults by these morons.
Ok, heres the WORD.
He: (with several voices in the back) "You have no restrictions about working"
me: "I can do ANY job"
he: "No restrictions"
me: "I can do private teaching?"
he: "Yes. You have no restrictions"
So, I take it I have no restrictions. I hope the ITU guys know this before they tackle me to the ground and whisk me off to Mokdong for my punishment.
I guess I wont be bothering with the MoE.

Like I said, if your paperwork is in order, I don't think you have anything to worry about. |

Well, there are still restrictions. To my knowledge a regular Korean citizen, an F-5 holder, an E-2 holder, or whatever are not allowed to kill someone even if they are a professional contract killer no matter what immigration may say. Without a license, and payment of appropriate taxes, you may be charged with tax evasion, right? |

But as far as I know tax evasion isnt under immigration's juridiction. All I was afraid of was immi coming in, tackilng me to the floor and hauling me off to some detention center only to find out they shouldnt have. I may get the license still, its just not so pressing a matter now.
Although a cntract killer sounds like a good job. I have no restricions under immigration law;) |

Be careful of the TTU(Tactical Taxation Unit) as I heard that they monitor these boards. They may be swooping down anytime soon to put the hurt on you. |
