If you see my earlier thread, I was wondering if there were fewer teachers available this year. Now I'm wondering, from a job-seekers veiwpoint, are you getting more offers to choose from--can you take your pick? Is it a seeker's market this year?

I ended up with four choices, which makes life a bit harder in terms of making decisions. none were more money, but they varied in hours, location, ages taught, etc. to distinguish them from each other.

I have been (seriously) searching for about 3 weeks now. I have posted my resume/cover letter/photo etc on a few sites and so far I have had about 30 - 40 emails from recruiters. However, my preferences include that I would like to work in the Seoul metropolitan area and I would say that around half of the emails have expressed total ignorance of this and suggested that I work elsewhere. Don't get me wrong I am still grateful that they have contacted me but I think I am going to hold out for a job that is more suited to my preferences.

I have had some promising contacts however. I have had one phone call from a recruiter who has said that they will try to place me in the Seoul met area. Although he did try and persuade me to ditch this preference as he said it would be difficult for me to find work there. I also have a British recruiter (I am from UK) currently looking for suitable jobs but so far they have not found any. Lastly, YBM ECC have contacted me regarding a possible job and I have a phone call scheduled with them for next week.

I don't know really if my job search is going well as I have never done this before. By the way my preferences are...

2 million won
Teaching Kindy / Elementary
Mon - Fri
Decent hours?
Single furnished housing
Round Trip airfare
Completion bonus
In Mokdong / Sinchon / Hongdae area
10 days holiday + Korean nat. holidays

So, so far I think the YMB ECC position looks the most promising? What do you think? Are my preferences reasonable? And do you know anything that has not already been covered about YBM ECC?

I'd be grateful for any feedback whatsoever!

Don't call it a bonus...call it a severance.

It seems like, except for wanting to be in a particular area, that all your preferences are standard, and you shouldn't accept anything less anyway.
You can try doing a Google search on YBM ECC and see what comes up.
