My question is this: Has anyone worked on a long distance MA / other degree while working at a public school in Korea? If so, did the public school situation help or hender your studies? The last time I was in Korea I was slammed with a wacky work schedule and was too exhausted to do much of anything, much less write a thesis (but this was at a hawgwan). I was hoping that a public school setting could be better for this, especially outside of Seoul.
I have considered accepting a job at a public school in Korea (just outside of Seoul) for the Fall. The main reason I'm considering returning to Seoul is to complete my long distance MA program.
I live in SE Asia, love it here, making a lot of cash, but the mail, banking, and internet service make it time consuming to complete the MA, and research materials are more costly and more difficult to get here, thus the contemplation to return. Any feedback appreciated. |

I work in a public HS in Gyeonggi.
8-hour work-day with only 4 or 5 classes a day. Lots of free time, free PC with high-speed internet on my desk.
If you spend the first couple of months working hard to organise your curriculum, you can free up a huge amount of time down the line - time that could be spent on your thesis!
I think it would be a good set-up for you. Though perhaps a Univ position would be more suitable - even more free-time, apparently! |
