I recently spoke to a teacher of ECC Daegu.............the owner has them working 10 classes a day!!!
I would say that they must all be new teachers,as nobody in their right mind would work that many hrs..........2.30-11!!!
I notice that they always post for new teachers...............I wonder why!!!

Could it possibly be that they are doing split shifts?

However, if they are doing ten classes back to back without a break then that is madness!!!

It's amazing what some people will put up with. I had 4 middle school lessons today and while it was lots of fun today, I'm wiped. I couldn't imagine doing twice that much to make money for someone else who may not even give a damn about his teachers or students.

I am not surprised that one is teaching 10 classes a day at an ECC hagwon.
I met a former teacher who had taught at the ECC school in Yosu, who told
me that the teachers there had to teach 40 hours a week before they were
entitled to overtime pay. Even if each class is 40 minutes, it doesn't make a big
difference, since the teacher still has to prepare for each class and meet a different
group of kids each round. It's better to avoid any of these big franchises which
are nothing but white slave-labor camps. Cool

in addition the branches in Jisan/Beomul Dong, and the one at Gundulbawi Intersection are notorious for labor violations.

10 a day...that is nuts!

The most I did while working for an ECC a few years back was 8 in one day (only for a month as we covered classes until the new teacher arrived) and that was nuts...by class number 6 your brain is basically fried anyway!

At Berlitz we started at 6:30am and finished at 9:10pm. It was what we called a 'swiss cheese' schedule because we'd get one or two 45 minute breaks in between classes throughout the day.

They even had bunk-beds for us to sleep in.

It was the first time that I'd ever seen beds in a language school for teachers to sleep in because they worked such long schedules.

We commonly taught 10 - 12 lessons a day.
