All Korean cars tho earn a pretty bad score in the safety department.

I certainly don't think Korean cars are the be-all and end-all, but I have to ask- is that just ignorant ranting or can you back that up with some current factual information?
[talking about the 1989 Pony doesn't count]

Having already looked into it, my question is pretty much a rhetorical one.

Here's an enigma.

This Kia has a 4-cilinder-in-line engine and produces 151 BHP. The Elan has rear wheel drive and a front engine. It takes the Elan 8,7 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 kph/ 60 mph.

Saw a couple on the road and it looks nice IMHO.

The Elan is a Lotus. Kia just bought the rights and produced it for the Korean market in 1996 and 1997.

People have said Korean cars are modelled after refrigerators.
I think that would be a step up for monstosities like the SSangyong
Rodius, which was voted the "Ugliest Car on UK Roads" (Irish Times)
Also the colour selections seem to reflect this country as a whole.
Instead of brilliant reds or yellows, they have the mundane three.
Black, white or if you are feeling really wild today - silver! However.
they seem to sell reasonably well.

korean cars are fine. it's the european cars that are ugly. peugeuts, renautls, fiat, rover, those cars look really strange to us in Canada. normal people drive US or Japanese cars, and increasingly hyundais too

I agree the styling of European cars can be more 'out there' than Asian or American cars but at least they try to move the shape of cars on from the three basic shapes. Sedan, SUV and pick-up.

And Peugeots are so not ugly!!! They make some of the sexiest low-cost cars in the world. I'll put in some pics later when I get time.

There's a big range of Peugeot you know. I don't think they are the sexiest carmaker in the world but they sure make better looking cars than any Korean company.

Google is awsome.

It certainly is.
One of the awesome things it is capable of doing is allowing people to find a shaky article which appears to reinforce their ignorances and prejudices.
The internet is dead- long live the internet.
