|
|
So I have coffee in the nurses room, and was sitting there enjoying my cup of joe when six 4th grade boys bring in this boy who cannot walk. They dared him to jump from a ledge that's about a storey and a half off the ground, he climbed up, lunged himself off and when he landed he hurt his feet really bad. When they were carrying him in, it looked like a scene from Taeguki and this poor boy looked like he got shot. He wasn't crying but he was in pain, but you could tell that he was hurt. They couldn't even get the boy to the bed and just laid him on the floor of the nurses room. A little later with some help, the boy got onto the bench.
Then, his homeroom teacher came in, and this is when all the fun started. First, the surly male teacher yelled at the student for being an idiot. I heard the word 'babo' come out once in a while. The other teachers that were there were laughing at this, and the boy was smiling and taking it all in. Then, the teacher smacked the boy upside the head and smacked his back. Again, the teachers laughed and the boy smiled. He cracked a joke at the expense of the teacher, and got hit again. The laughs continued for about 15 minutes.
The other teachers started talking and disciplining the boys for his idiocy. Then, the teacher slapped him upside the head again! And the boy... big smile across his face. The teacher looked at me and said, "You can strike this student if you want to. Hell, everyone was having so much fun; I wanted to slap him upside the head too!! But I passed on the offer and said maybe another time.
Ah... another glorious day in a Korean elementary school. You just got to shake your head and smile. |

So did they kid get any medical attention??
Or did they just throw salt on the wound and beat the boy silly??
I can understand diciplining (although I think physical beatings should be a thing of the past) him but holy sh;t let the kid get some proper medical attention first.
I also don't understand the other teachers standing by watching and laughing at the whole thing.
I I were you (when the teacher asked you if you wanted a go) I would have asked if it was alright to take a swing at the teachers and leave the kid alone. |

So, a smallish boy has just jumped off of quite a high ledge and hurt his feet. The staff come in and proceed to slap him up the side of his head instead of being concerned that he might have fractured or broken a bone in his leg or foot. Oh dear |
