I'll be asking my director for an LOR in the next couple of weeks and was wondering what exactly she has to write in the letter for it to be accepted by immigration. I remember reading somewhere about someone who had their LOR rejected by immigration because it was lacking in something Confused

So if anyone can state exactly what needs to be in an LOR or if you can point me in the right direction of a link then that would be great. Thanks.

I only need an LOR because my visa expires almost a month after my contract ends. So in order to apply for a new visa for a new job I've got lined up, I need to provide an LOR to cancel my current visa.

Yes - it was me. Mine was TITLED wrong - I can't remember what the title was because it was in Korean. However, the ironically maddening thing was that my new boss had given me the letter of release that he had given to the teacher I was replacing. Immigration accepted it for that teacher.

Then when my employer copied it out with the relevant info (name, date, etc) and I submitted it two days later, immigration said that there had been a change in LOR policy and the letter had to have a very specific title on it, which was not the correct title that was on mine.

Extremely maddening, VERY hard to believe, but nonetheless absolutely true.

Because the letter was titled wrong, Immi was willing to accept my original boss visiting in person to cancel the visa - I guess to scratch out the first title and replace it with a new one and sign it?

Anyway if you are leaving your job on proper terms and your current director is giving you the LOR happily, then there should not be any problem - if Immigration says the LOR is missing some info, your director should probably be able to go there in person to alter the letter.

OK thanks. Do you know what the title should have been?
