I got one of my Korean co-workers to call up Incheon immigration today to ask about whether I needed to transfer my E2 visa from my old to my new passport. She was told that I didn't have to do it. I thought it would have been neccesary but it seems not. They just said I have to carry around my old one with me. Anyone else ever been told a similar thing? |

Yes, I had exactly the same experience when I renewed my passport. |

My director went to Immigration and filled out some paperwork for me - she took my old passport, my new one and my ARC.
Nothing was put in my new passport, and nothing changed on my ARC. When I travelled in and out of the country I always took my old passport with me just in case, but no one ever asked to see it, even when I applied for a single-return entry premit at the airport...which was just stamped in my new passport. |

No, no, no and no. You should report a change of passport number to immigration 14 days after you get your new passport otherwise you are up for a fine. Go to immigration and get the form where you apply for your re-entry form and tick the box that says something about alterations.
Then they'll put in the new numbers in and transfer over any re-entry permits. Doesn't cost anything. |

Oh yes, I forgot about that. Yes, I do remember doing that, too. |

Interesting, when they transfer the new numbers in will they use an entire page? I received my passport before arriving here almost 3 years ago. I've been to Osaka 3 times and traveled to Thailand once.
I think my pages are almost all used up. It seems Immigration doesn't use all 4 sections per page which seems to waste my passport usage. What must I do force Immigration to use the entire page? |

OK thanks for that. I'll get her to call up again and let them know that my passport number has changed. Hopefully I won't have to go all the way there myself to do it. |
