Good for Korea. Always good to see an underdog come out on top. At this point, I don't personally see the US advancing. It's all getting too mathematical, and not particularly in their favor.
A big part of the problem for the US is the people they hire for selection committees. (See: USA basketball for the past few international tourneys, though Colangelo's strategy of try-outs and a mix of role players and superstars is a step in the right direction.) Why is the US relying on guys like Randy Winn? With all the great outfielders in baseball, that's the best they can do? Of course, the fact that a lot of stellar players chose not to play doesn't help matters.
And there's the matter of the manager, too... |

The biggest poor sports, full of excuses why they didn't win in this tourney, is JAPAN.
After losses against Korea and America, the Japanese claimed they lost because of poor umpiring.
Any team that loses games because of one or two marginal ("bad") calls doesn't clearly deserve to win. A clearly better team puts itself in a position where one or two plays don't make the difference in a game. |

They did lose because of poor umpiring against the USA.
If two teams are evenly matched, then one bad call can make all of the difference. There's always a bit of luck in close games, and they got screwed. They should never have had American umpires workings the USA games.....and I'm from the U.S. |

The last two posts are right, but the whole problem with this bad call is that it's the type of call that is rarely made in baseball. Perhaps three of those are called in an entire season of Major League Baseball and that's over 2,000 games per season.
That being said, one play does not win or lose a game and a real sportsman will never blame a loss on one play. That's the media's job. |

Although I mostly agree with you, this play could very well have cost them the game.
What if that same things happens in the bottom of the ninth? What if it had been a two-run play, where the one team was 1 run back before.
I agree you shouldn't have an umpire from the home country doing the game. Especially because of stuff like this. |

| The hyterical screaming has broken out right across the school - and I work at a girls school. I can't imagine what it's like at the boys schools. I sure wouldn't want to have to teach 6th block at one of those today, lol. |

USA lost to mexico that puts japan through to face Korea for the third time in the tournament for the right to go to the finals.
Question is can the kimchi and soju boys defeat the rival Japanese three times in a row???
It should be a great game, but as I stated from the get go my money is on the Domincans. |

| Great, Korea vs Japan for a third time. I'm even less likely to watch the last two games. |

| The other day, the Korean right fielder throwing the guy out at home plate was the bomb! One bounce, just left of homeplate on the baseline. What a gorgeous throw! |
