Your favorite?
Tricky one I think.
Although I hate the ear-cutting scene, RD is utterly brilliant. As much as I love Pulp Fiction, it's my least fave of the three.
You? See poll. |

You're right, they're really different, but I see a connection because they're all crime/gangster movies and 90s movies too.
Usual Suspects winning so far....... |

All three are spectacularly written masterpeices.
But the camera work and shot set-up on reservoir dogs takes it to the top in my mind. |

Reservoir Dogs has that 'a play in 3 acts' sense to it, like 50's Arthur Miller theater. I'd love to see it adapted to the stage. Characters brought out so quickly and easily is Quentin's strength, same as Pulp Fiction.
Kevin Spacey really stands out in the Usual Suspects, more than any Quentin character, in my opinion. All good movies. |

RDogs because they were the best blue collar criminals imho.
Harvey Keitel/Mr. White:
Quote: |
When you're dealing with a store like this, they're insured up the ass. They're not supposed to give you any resistance whatsoever. If you get a customer or an employee who thinks he's Charles Bronson, take the butt of your gun and smash their nose in. It drops him right to the floor. Everyone jumps. He falls down screaming. Blood squirts out of his nose. Freaks everybody out. Nobody says fucking shit after that. You might get some bitch talk shit to you. But give her a look like you're going to smash her face next, watch her shut the *beep* up. Now if it's the manager, that's a different story. The managers know better than to *beep* around. So if you get one that's giving you static, he probably thinks he's a real cowboy, so you gotta break that son of a bitch in two. If you wanna know something he won't tell you, cut off one of his fingers-- the little one. Then tell him his thumb's next. After that, he'll tell you if he wears ladies' underwear. I'm hungry. Let's get a taco. |

rottentomatoes.com critics tomatometer readings:
Reservoir Dogs-93%
Pulp Fiction- 95%
The Usual Suspects- 90%
Voted for Pulp Fiction. The characters and events are the most vivid. The dialogue is so good that the film would work as an audio book.
Pulp Fiction's circular timeline influenced The Usual Suspects |

The Usual Suspects has to be one of the greatest movies of all time. My vote all the way.
Yet, I find myself in Korea with both a roommate and a boyfriend who have never seen this movie. Does anyone know where I can find a copy in this country, before I lose my mind? |

download it from limewire.
It'll take a while even with a fast connection but it's worth it. |

If one doesn't pay close attention to the opening scene in Usual Suspect, the whole movie could be lost on them. In a way, doncha think? |

I must agree with you. The opening scene is key, but if you don't pay attention to all the little nuances in the movie you won't get the end either.
Though I must say, I had it figure out a bit sooner.
This thread makes me happy in so many ways...
3 great movies, but The Usual Suspects takes the cake for sure.
Kevin Spacey blew my mind. |

Yes, it's difficult at first. I was this close to giving up, but as I was on a very long flight I persevered and then - wham! - here comes Pete Posslethwait (sp)'s character and he sows it all together. Genius movie, I love it. And when you're finished what do you do? Play the whole god damn thing again, that's what! Kept me thoroughly entertained for a big portion of an England - Singapore flight. |
