So there I was innocently waiting for my Korean fiancee at Sinchon station, standing by the little coffee place French Kiss, minding my own business, and an ajoshi rammed his soju stinking face into mine and shouts,

"You terrorist number one!"

'Crikey', thinks I, and I take couple of steps back.

"You terrorist number one!"

'Crikey', thinks I, 'and now everyone is looking!' taking a few more steps away.

"You terrorist number one!"

'Bloody hell mate, p*ss off!' thinks I.

And like a knight in shining armour who should approach but my darling fiancee!

Whatever she said it worked a treat! The ajoshi sheepishly put his head down and scuttled off to whatever rock he lives under!

Only the second time that this kind of situation has ever happened to me in over three years of living/visiting Korea. I did feel a little uncomfortable to say the least!

Sounds like she outwitted him. Nothing more satisfying in public in Korea than telling an ajoshi or adjuma "You're wrong" and leaving them with no counter arguement. Sounds like you have a smart woman. Smile

Har. A lunatic screaming in your face shouldn't be too hard to outwit.

I took a seat on the subway next to some old codger. He immediately took an offense to my waygookieness and started ranting and raving. I at first just thought the old duffer was off his rocker drunk, but then his stench hit me. I have smelled some pretty vile odors in my time, but this fellow just about made my nose want to commit suicide. It then became apparent at the rate of departure of the other Korean passengers that even they were getting wierded out by the old coot. As my fellow subway travellers one by one stood and departed for the next car I grimly stood my ground, and carefully breathed through my mouth. For a bit I was concerned about the possibility of the old bastard's stench giving me something quaint like tuberculocious or perhaps even turning me into a raving transvestite.

The drunk old retard ranted on in the following pattern:

Old Retarded Drunk Moron: Gibberish.. Gibberish ..Mumble.. Mumble.. MIGOOK!

Me: Wheeze Wheeze Wheeze.. turns page of book.. Wheeze Wheeze Wheeze... Turns page of book...

Old drunken tool: Gibberish ..drunken lunatic babbling ..MIGOOK!

This continued until I simply departed the subway at the next stop and reboarded two cars up.

The only really annoying thing about the ordeal being I think the cold I had is now worst for sitting next to the rancid old jackass.

When Koreans behave like this, they are virtually giving the Gold Medal of Hospitality to Japan. So much for patriotism. Rolling Eyes

I should hope that there are still a lot of polite and helpful Koreans around.

What the idiot was doing was assuming you were a miguk, like they think all people on earth who aren't Korean, must be. He's recycling some patriotic anti -Bushie propaganda he's heard somewhere. The closed-minded prejudice of these people sometimes is truly infantile and mind-blowing.

Its equivalent to you walking up to the first Asian person you see in the U.S. and shouting " Release the war vets you're holding!' .

If you're British, RS, you're really only "terrorist numba 2!" behind Bushie, so now you've got a goal to strive for.
