Just when I though I'd memorized the mazey passageways of the Korean pension and labour system...

For two years I worked at Hagwons, and contributed to the National pension plan (I know because I called them to find out how much I was owed upon leaving). But before I got to go home to collect this largesse, I lucked in to a college job and decided to stay another year. To the quick:

I have been told by my college that the National pension fund is not the one used by colleges, universities, and (I believe) public schools. There is, according to the school, a separate pension fund for profs and teachers who work in the public schools system. Can anybody explain this to me? I'm getting in contact with the pension board in order to hear it from the horse's mouth, so to speak, but I'd appreciate a heads up if somebody would oblige.

Not all universities use teachers pension but many do. When you switch to teachers pension get an official form from your school go the national pension office and your national pension will be deposited in your bank account one month later. I did this last september without a hitch.

The bonus for teachers pension is that theoretically all nationalities get it back, unlike national pension which brits do not get back.
