There's not enough variety in Korean food. Geez! What can you eat??? Beef with chili sauce, chicken with chili sauce, pork with chili sauce or squid with chili sauce. Oh yeah, and your side dishes will almost always be kimchi and white rice. No wonder the ethnic restaurants do well in Itaewon.

Eat this all the time or risk getting cancer? I think I'll take my chances.

Are the spices there to cover up the inferior quality of the meat/seafood? I've noticed that the seafood they serve here is not on par with what I'm used to in the states. We're pretty picky about what kind of fish we eat. But Koreans will use/eat any kind/part of fish/sealife and just cover up the nasty taste with spice. I mean, I know kimchi is pickled and spiced to preserve it because that's the only way they could get veggies in the winter back in the day. But in this day and age of refrigeration, shouldn't they give up on the nasty-tasting preserved veggies and just go for the real thing? Same with seafood. Just eat it fresh. Dispense with the nasty seafood and its equally horrible cover-up spice and just eat it fresh.

I'm drunk. For the first time in a while. Probably shouldn't be posting on a topic like this. Sorry if it doesn't make sense.

Maybe they use spices because it supposedly speeds up the metabolism? What's the truth to this rumor, by the way?

I'll take Mexican food, thank you. Maybe chili is good for you, but it doesn't compensate for a monotonous, poor quality cuisine.

Now when I think of the cuisines I least like to eat in Asia, Korean and Filipino come up. Neither are very good. Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese are all very good.
