FXman, I wish you nothing but the best. And if you should find yourself up here near the DMZ, I'd like to buy you a beer.

I still can't believe that I got beeped for using the word "cocktail". A little over-zealous, mods?

I was referring to an adult beverage. Am I allowed to say that? What is this, Singapore? Some mod has the dial turned up way too high, and that has tuned me right out. Goodbye, Dave's, hello, Ajarn.com.

No moderator deleted your word. It's an automatic filter. Some of the things that get "beeped" are indeed ridiculous (Fukuoka got beeped for several months), but then, so are some of the things people might be tempted to post on a professional forum.

The mod with his hand on the dial is the owner of the site. It even has his name on it. It's his yard, and his ball. We play by his rules. It's not hard to work around not being able to write "c0cktail".

Thanks for a prompt reply, but I'm still not satisfied. Clearly some tweaking and/or fine-tuning needs doing, so that this sort of hooey doesn't happen again. I just sent a message to Sperling; let's see what he can do.

No you're not too old; if you can't find something good here, try China, it's easier.

Very Happy Fxman

Age does not matter if you're working for reasonable people. I'm in my fifties and although I've faced other problems here (the perennial ones that everyone experiences) I'm able to hold up my end quite nicely, thank you, even when compared to the much (and I mean MUCH) younger teachers.

In any case, age is a state of mind, or at worst, someone else's opinion.

Age plays a funny role in Korean culture... but I really don't think it will affect your marketability. I am a female over 30 and while I may be an old maid to my people, (since I am single and without a few kids...)
I was able to land a good job. It also has alot to do with appearance.... If you look young, that can help.

Good luck on TESOL, am a third way through mine,,,, one thing is for sure... I am WAY too old for homework lol...

Hey coolsage, did they beep out "c o cktails"??? thats funny.

Also... If anyone can give me the 411 on a place called CHUNGNAM or any details about the area itself. I appreciate it!!! All I know is that it is a University type town.

The message you are responding to is more than 3 years old.

What type of job are you looking at? Hakwon, public school, university...?

oh god. thanks for the 411. I pulled a Paris Hilton there... I didn't care to look at the date. Today is my first day getting acquainted with this thing!

I just got hired to work at a newly established Institute. CIFLE

Chungnum Institute of Foreign Language Education. It's an English Village type deal. It is a Government position as I am considered a public servant in the contract.

I am very familiar with Seoul have family in Deokso but Chungnam is unfamiliar territory. My uncle tried to describe it to me but I need a non Korean perspective, outside of the "its a mountain country yada yada yada..."

Am I in nowheresville?????
