I used to live there. Are you there to work? Won't your school get you a place?

I would advise you to go to Dublin Irish Bar, where all the foreigners hang out, someone will help you there. Walk out Samsung Plaza through the KFC exit and thirty metres ahead on the left, in the building after ABC Mart is where the bar is . Tel 031 7087942. Good Luck.

Hi Katie,

I liked Bundang a lot when I lived there, but it seems to have become very expensive. Anyway, I found it difficult to find a place there (due to language problems) but eventually got a nice officetel. If you can afford one, you should go for it -- if you speak Korean you'll probably have no trouble if you go to any real estate agency (budongsan - ?) or just go straight to the officetel you'd like to live in.

Otherwise, maybe you could try this company? I've never dealt with them but would probably give them a try if I ever ended up back in the Seoul area with no place to live.

but if they were getting me a place, why on Earth would I ask for help?

But thanks for all the help. The website is great. im off to the bar now.

And they agreed to pay you a million won per month more so you can find your own place?

Yeah, that's a great deal. You'll have no trouble getting a nice officetel with that kind of money, as long as you have enough for key money up front. Five million is usually the minimum.

just to let you know...

I just finished finding a place here in bundang and you are looking at paying a min 10 million a moth key money. Pickings are slim. Your rent money is fine but you got to make sure you get some key money from your boss or no place for you. Also if you find a place you like you need to take it right away or within the hour it will be gone.
House shopping in bundang is no fun!

LOL, if you think I'll believe that fact that a hagwon would fork over an EXTRA 1 million won for you to find your own housing.

Yeah, but it's totally true about the exhorbanent key money in Bundang (not as expensive in other places in Korea, however). When I lived there, I had a friend who came from Arizona to teach civil engineering for 6 months in Suwon. Because he has his whole family, they just gave him the key money to get his own place.... unreal... like 100,000$... probably got 90% back after he left, however.
OP, you should seriously consider pleading with your school to get you and your bf a bigger place that you can share. You can threaten to not work there and as an alternative to negotiation, there are many other schools in Bundang that dont have such a narrow-minded approach to unmarried couples sharing an apartment.

I say: What do I care if you believe me. I got it, you dont have to believe me for my salary to come in. Are you always such as ass? Good luck, with your attitude, you might need it.
