So this morning my friends left for the airport at the ungodly hour of 6am. So as the person with the best korean i had the pleasure of having to call up some guy who had blocked in the entire carpark in our building to come move his damn car.
Now I understand that this was a little early, but at first the guy denied that he had a car! I read out the licence plate, oh that's not my car, read out the kind of car, no that's my car. Finally I threatened to break his window and move the car myself before he would get out of bed to move his damn car... Confucus says if you park car so that no one else in the carpark can get out don't be surprised if you get early morning phone calls. |

Well in this case the are about 11 parks for the two people in the building with 2 cars so this a case of some idiot too lazy to find a park somewhere else. |

I had almost the opposite thing happen. My place is between two small-scale distribution company offices. These offices cater to endless supplies of arriving and departing cargo trucks. Those trucks aren't too careful about where they park and sometimes they park in front of my house, sometimes they park in front of the distribution place, or other times they park in the middle of the road and block up traffic (see my thread, "dedicated korean workers doing their jobs" for most plausible explanation about why this happens"). Also, sometimes employees of the distribution company park in front of my place as well.
Anywayz, so one Saturday night, their trucks were all lined-up in front of my place and I had no place to park other than in front of one of those distribution company buildings.
Next morning--Sunday, some guy is banging on my door, asking me to move my car because he needs to pull into the space in front of the building to unload supplies or whatever. I chewed him out and made a "big deal" about moving my car and being rudely awakened ie I didnt come out right away and I made the truck driver call the owner of the distribution company before I would move my car.
The owner apologized, blah blah.. I told him not to let his employees park in front of my place if he didnt want me to park in front of his. He said OK, sorry, blah blah.
Next Friday night, same thing... friggin trucks all in front of my place. And all throughout the week, his employees had been parking in front of my place, too (I watched them park, get out of their cars, and go into the office from my kitchen window). So I parked in front of the distribution office again.
Saturday morning, big surprise, a knock on my door. I opened it briefly, gave the guy the finger, slammed it. He called the distribution company owner who (again) came to the scene. But this time I just let him knock and knock for a half-hour and my gf and I stood in the kitchen window waving and smiling at them as they glared and cursed at us in Korean from below.
He shouted through the door that he was at that very moment calling the police to come tow my car.. I wasnt sure how easy it is to just tow someone's car or whether maybe he is buddy buddy with the police chief so about 15 minutes after he called, I went out to move my car (factored in as much time as possible between his call and moving the car to maximize his inconvenience). When I got into my car to pull it 20 ft forward, they all cussed me out in korean and english and in return I told them that if they parked in front of my place again after waking me up rude-early on a Saturday and Sunday, "they would be sorry".
They were sorry when they did it again but I think Ill let the story end here. |

Had this happen once. A car was blocking the road, and I couldn't get through. I called the number on the dash. No answer. There was a young couple making out in a car next to it. I assumed it might be one of theirs, and asked if they could move it. They said it wasn't. I called the number on the dash again, to no effect. I was livid.
I left my car in the alley, returned with a piece of paper and a pen, wrote down the license plate as if I was planning to call a tow truck, and walked back in the house. Less than 30 seconds later, after I walked into the house, the car blocking the entrance, and the car with the couple, was gone. |
