Has anyone had any experiences with netkorea? I'm trying to decide on a recruiter and I'd like to go into public high schools.

An additional option to a recruiter is EPIK. Also several counties hire teachers themselves directly.

Really? What counties? Is the set-up reliable?

I'm actually looking for a couple position for me and my boyfriend.

They hosed me pretty good last year with an English Village job. I'd ask them questions and they'd either refuse to answer or they'd change the answer every day. It was very much a hurry-hurry operation.

Which province are you thinking about? I don't think any provinces are exclusively served by NETKorea. I'd recommend looking around for a different recruiter.

NETKorea set me up with a killer job this year at a private school in Seoul (not a hagwon) near Sinchon. I have the hours and vacation of a public school gig, but with much better pay, and in a great location. The girl I worked with (Tracy) was cool, and really helpful. I'm not sure if all the agents that work there are like that, but she was solid.

I hate to do this because I am generally a positive person, but I joined the board to start partaking and replying to this specific question was as good a reason as any to start...

My advice is that recruiters get a pretty bum rap around here. (I have watched for a while, but never posted until now). NetKorea, in my opinion, is horrible, and I hate to pile on, but here is a small sampling of what they are like, from first hand experience.

1) They have a boss, who pushes his employees to lie through their teeth to you. That way he takes no responsibility.

2) They rarely put things in writing that you ask them to. They tell you something on the phone, then they can go back and say they never say it.

3) They try to push you quickly into something that may not be the best for you. Only you can decide that, not NetKorea.

4) The contracts that they have are illegal (it illegal under Korean law to have a contract that is very different in Korean and English, thus misleading), and the English and Korean translation on their contracts are not even close.

5) A sense of responsibility for their actions is never there.

NetKorea got caught lying through their teeth many ways (both verbally and in writing), and never took responsibility in any way. My advice: stay away from them-as far away as you can.

I had a good experience with them.

The guy I dealt with was Lex, he was a stand up guy, if he said he was going to do something he did.

I had contractual changes to be made, he made it happen. I wanted input from previous teachers and he tracked them down for me.

The experience was pretty good, he picked me up at Incheon took me out for a great galbi feast and put me up in a hotel near kimpo airport as I had a connecting flight the next morning.

Nothing bad to say about Lex, I reccomend dealing with him.
