| nice. although i'm embarrassed to admit that i've heard either song, i've heard them both and immediately thought the same thing when i heard "Get Ya." total ripoff. I hope britney sues the pants off of her. |

It's the same with just about all of the pop songs in Korea.
I've heard a Korean song that is a complete rip off of "Let's Get Retarded", and another one that might as well be "Yeah" by Usher, two of the biggest hits in recent US pop music.
It's pretty sad, actually...Koreans have some of the highest production quality music and movies in Asia, yet they can't seem to create anything original. |

| If any of you guys were here 10 years ago, you'll know that "Come Back Home" by seo taeji sounded exactly like a work of Cyprus Hill. On the other hand, when we used to get channel V Asian, one could hear many Chinese pop songs that were rip-offs of Korean ones. |

i wouldn't lump the movies in with the music. I think you gotta admit Old Boy was pretty original even if it was based on a Japanese comic. but the music...god...a wasteland. empty, soulless, spirit-deadening wasteland of pure sh*te. |

That's a shining exception of pure cinematic genius from Korea, but if you've watched a lot of the romance, action, police dramas, or thrillers, they're all recycled material from either Japan or the States. The production quality is really impressive, especially for the budgets (Taegugki was done for $11M US), but the content is just so...vanilla.
As far as the music culture goes, it's just a parade of one-hit wonders. There a few starts that have stuck around, but most of them fall right into Korea's ����ȭ (tin pan culture). Is it any wonder why most major global tours have schedules like: Bangkok, Manila, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai (skip over Korea) Tokyo, and Osaka? Somehow I don't think U2 would get a rush performing in front of a couple of thousand people placidly seated while shaking red balloons to the beat. |

| Loads of pop songs in Korea are copies of Japanese songs and China rips off both countries. It's seems to be part of the industry. Maybe some are legal covers but they often seem to come out too quickly after the original to be legitimate. |
