or Palm Pilot pocket PC type device. They don't seem to be very popular here.
I have seen some at Yongsan but was dissapointed by the lack of variety, especially in the higher end of the market, which is what I'm interested in.

Any leads?

Do yourself a favor, On a weekend, go to Japan on the ferry to Fukuoka.

Go to an electronics store like Bic

Buy a Zaurus SLC-3200. It is all in Japanese, but it can be converted to English because it is a Linux system with a 6 gb hard drive.

This thing does everything a PDA does and everything a laptop does.

Its incredible!...go here to find out more about this amazing machine (actually this site is about the SLC-3000 and 3100, which is the model just before the 3200 release):

Just saying the words "Palm Pilot" and "high end" in the same sentence pretty much means you don't know what you are talking about.

Palm Pilot is a piece of garbage from the 1990's before the Palm III. There are some 1990ish Handsprings around, but I don't think there are any Palm OS devices in Yongsan.

There are many (Windows)Pocket PC's available. Dell Axim, HP Pocket PC's. These run 500-800k. You can find them near the GPS kiosks, because they double up as GPS devices for cars.

I don't think there is anything more powerful than the 800k HP PDA's available on the US market. What exactly are you looking for?

the thing is, an 8 meg handspring visor can do most of what a 2 gig 200 mhz whatever with a color screen and mpeg playback and embedded windows can, since you don't bust out your PDA when you need to play starcraft or mpeg files or whatever

the advantage is that it can be purchased in the US for $25 and a pair of AAA batteries power it through 2 weeks of intensive use
