I am just curious, and I have never seen anyone talking about it on this board before.

Lets face it, the National Health Insurance in Korea, is not great if you get an emergency or chronic problem 9such as cancer). Even if you only pay half...if you have to stay in a hospital a few days or have something really wrong and have to have huge treatments, it can amount to millions of won.

My question, then, is this: Does anyone have any sort of worldwide health coverage that covers things like broken bones, heart attachs, cancer, etc?

If you do, what is the policy coverage and general exclusions, and what are the benefits? I am not asking for specifics, just general information.

Thanks,

Poet

I use Global Health Insurance for my wife and I. Had it when I lived in Japan and just kept it up after coming here. It is pretty comprehensive, covers broken bones, operations, etc. We pay just over $120 U.S. per month.
The support staff are good. I have needed to use the insurance 2 or 3 times and they always try to suss out a list of suitable doctors in my area and refund you relatively quickly once all the paperwork is done.

The reason I use it instead of National health insurance is that, being Canadian, when I return to Canada, my health care doesn't kick in for six months. If I have an emergency or long term illness, I am not going to want to be treated here, so I have the option of going back to Canada for treatment and being covered.

Hope that helps.

Peace,
