Okay Welcome to Dongmakgol is, in a sense, a fantasy movie. And I guess it's okay in a fantasy movie that everyone in the American military looks like an ESL teacher pulled off the street. But, like, were American navy pilots from the Korean war allowed to have beards? I know ESL teachers are allowed to have them but I didn't think American military pilots were allowed to have beards.

However, even in a fantasy movie, the actors should be able to... act. The white actors were horrible. Worse their English lines sucked so bad you wonder why none of the "actors" had the big irons round ones to tell the director "no one talks like this in English." There was a classic line that went something like "when we hit the ground be prepared to fire your rifles because the enemy will kill you violently!" Kill you violently? Are there non-violent ways of killing in war?

And the chick seemed to be doing a flower power era Goldie Hawn impression. It was the most irritating thing I've seen in Korean cinema in a long time. This was the movie Korea submitted to the Academy awards this year for best foreign film consideration?

i knew 2 guys who acted in that learning English show for months, playing the most foolish and ridiculous scenes. I met someone who offered me to act for these stupid movies, I said NO WAY.

Acting some idiotic part for the giggling amusement of koreans..on national TV..probably the lowest foreigner lifeform on offer in this country.

I agree. I don't have a high opinion of these people. Also, have you seen the Western actors they get to play in Japanese movies. They are horrid. I could act better and I only did Drama for one year. But also remember the audience of these movies. I don't think the producers care about the English cause most people won't understand.

Yeah, I don't think pilots are allowed to have facial hair, it inferes with their masks or something.

I was told by someone that the reason the girl had a flower in her hair was that some Koreans think a flower in the hair indicates insanity.

Yeah, I was thinking about this the other day while watching 'Lost'. If the Jin character doesn't know one word of English, how is he going to cope on a Sydney to LA flight. He wouldn't be able to answer questions whilst checking in (such as, did you pack this bag yourself and all that). He probably wouldn't know which gate to go to (unless Sydney airport has signs in Korean).

Poor acting aside I enjoyed the movie.

The story and photography kept me interested. Definitely not the worst Korean movie I've watched (and I've watched many bad ones!!).

Well, to be fair, at least they are on TV. For most people, if that is what they want to get into, any form of exposure is positive.
As for the lowest foreigner lifeform thingy, well...Koreans do think more of foreign actors here than they do of English Teachers.
