I'm planning on going to Korea later this year or early next year (the only thing holding me back is that my actual graduation isn't until November so I won't have any official documents until then). I'm only planning on staying for a year, because I have plans to work and study in the UK.

Right now I volunteer for a few different programs at a museum (I'm studying archaeology at uni). I'm kinda worried about having a whole year in Korea without doing any volunteer work, for my own interest and also because it looks good on resumes and grad school apps since there aren't a lot of museum jobs out there...

So, I was thinking about looking into volunteering at a museum when in Korea (I'm thinking Seoul). I did some Googling and it looks like some volunteer programs exist (as they do in most museums) that need English speakers, although I have no idea if they'll even consider using a foreign volunteer who can only commit to a year. I would only be interested if it were once a week or so, for a morning or whatever works with my schedule.

ANYWAYS, my boring details aside... has anyone found the time, or even the opportunity, to volunteer for something that interests them?

TIP:

after you find a volunteer position, but before you start volunteering, make absolutely sure with immigration that your volunteer work isn't work, isn't a violation of your visa!!
