yes, the title's funny. oops

anyway, thanks to all previous posters. for the record, i told my boss--the right way--that i wanted to quit. so, that's that.

anyway, i wanted to know the status of doing private lessons. i have an f-4 visa. i was told that it IS legal to do privates with this visa, but not so with others (i.e. e-2).

this has probably been asked before, so i apologize (i did do a search though, and nothing came up).

i'm pretty sure it's legit cuz i have friends with f-4s who've done it.

if so, what's a good going rate, especially if i have extensive private lesson experience, went to a decent school, and i say i used to write toeic questions? thanks.

Anyone with an F 2 or 4 can do privates. If you do them legally...you have to pay taxes.

I'd say charge 50,000 min an hour.
Tell the mom if they introduce someone else you'll give her a discount (I did the 5000 won off deal).

So if you are lucky you'll have a bunch of privates in the same building complex.

You can legally advertise, but like everything else in Korea...word of mouth is best.

I charge about 40,000 to 50,000. It depends on the situation. id never go below 40 though. On an F4 ou can teach privates. I wouldnt reccomend any E2 doing them as its a risky game.

any suggestions WHERE/HOW to find privates?

to avoid the tax thing... i'm sure referrals are the best (word-of-mouth). what do people think about posting on boards like e spectrum, herald? personally, i'm a little against it - rather email people individually.

or maybe posting around language schools/universities.

any ideas?

the fee depends on where you live.....the more affluent areas in Seoul 40-50 an hour.....most satellite cities 25-35 an hour.

if you don't want to pay taxes.......word of mouth or post some flyers around where you live. you can get permission from the apartment manager's office and pay a small fee to post there.
