You might get a better rate at a bank in Korea. Is someone meeting you at the airport? Do you really need a pile of won when you land?
I came to Korea with no Korean won. My employer reimbursed me for my ticket, in won, the day I arrived and I lived on that cash until my first payday. I never converted any money from home. I never needed to spend any of my own money from home, here in Korea, other than buying a ticket to get here. |

In my experience, you get a terrible rate for the Korean won outside of Korea (probably because demand is low)...but don't take my word for it. There must information available somewhere online. |

Here will be better. Although the KRW is freely tradeable, there is not much trade in it - as the poster above said. |

HI
I bank with Natwest in the Uk and always get a good deal on my Won when I buy from them.
Just order your currency about 4 days in adavance.
