I have to say if somebody 'made barking noises to another teacher when [I] walked into the room' I'd be pretty taken back.
That's equally as uncool as the other. So, no higher moral point for yah.

I'll admit to being a weirdo who nobody would surely ever want to work with!

I'll also vouch that every single 'foreigner' I've ever met in Korea just had that 'something missing' about them. I can only surmise, that if we were all regular folk, we would have been able to fit in quite nicely at home instead of needing to escape to the other side of the planet.

Take comfort in that I've heard stories about Koreans in all-Korean companies who've jumped ship because of unpleasant co-workers. It happens to us all. But, such is life, we all have to accommodate our oddball other halves, right?

Personally, I can't stand the following talk in the staffroom:
1) Ice hockey results.
2) Superbowl results.
3) Virtually any sports talk except speculation on soccer World Cup.
4) Advice about how to chat up Korean women.
5) Cliche film quotes.
6) The 'yes-man' attitude.
7) The 'they wouldn't do that back home' whiner.
Cool Superiority talk.
9) From administrators (with grin): 'Oh, yeah, sorry, we forgot to tell you that that paperwork is due right this minute.'
10) From boss: 'you're fired.'

So what's the "something missing" with you then? A brain?

Yeah, I'm missing a brain. Am I supposed to need one as an English teaching monkey in a Hagwon?

Because of lack of brain, I couldn't quite clarify what I meant exactly by 'something missing.' Now, with cerebral lag, I know what I meant to detail: All foreigners I've so far met here (about 4 yrs here) have been REALLY selfish. Everything is centered around 'I.' In fact, I've found greater assistance from the locals in my whole time here than in the ex-pats. Real hats off to the Koreans imo.

I know I'm sometimes selfish myself - more often in deliberate respite to someone else who's shown themself to be selfish! - but, it's curious why it should be more so in Korea than in surrounding countries.

So you've lived and worked in all the surrounding countries? How's N.K doing? Laughing
