The video store is a good place to look. Usually costs about 2000 won.

Some of these posts are ridiculous.

Can anyone tell me where I can find a Korean restaurant somwhere in Korea?

Seriously, questions like this one should be directed towards people who know more about the area you live in, namely your older students. My first year here, I found a huge supermarket, a gym, a video store, and tons of other places just by asking my students to draw me a map.

Or, you could just get your a$$ off the couch and look around your neighborhood.

Ease up, people. Play nice.

Video stores can be difficult to find, if you don't know what to look for, or how to read.

" DVD" are usually on the signs. They are usually small 10 Pyoung shoebox-sized stores, but can be easily confused with , which is a place to watch videos, not rent.

Isn't this an example of learned helplessness? It's an easy trap to fall into.

My all-time favorite one was the poster who had cut his/her hand the night before and was asking if 'we' thought he should go to a doctor.

Getting a map from the students is a great way to get information. It also gives you a lesson plan early on at a new job.

You mean, like, videos?

I can understand something complicated like an ENT clinic, but come on...if you walk past a store and there are videos on the shelves, then chances are...

Getting out there and finding it yourself is part of the adventure. You can't swing a dead cat by the tail without hitting a video store in Seoul.

Wow this is just like being in at a comedy festival!

I would just go out and look, but as I'm in toronto that wouldn't help much.

I assume by some of the responses that the Video stores all have movies in English. Oddly, I didn't know that.

And while movies may be easy to rent in Korea, I suppose some options are better than others.

A service like Netflix would likely be best.

i just noticed that i called drifter by the name djmnsc in my first post. my bad. anyways, there's tons of video stores in seoul, they have hollywood movies, the dvds have subtitles, it's a pretty good situation. sometimes it's a hassle to a join a place though. you might get hit with the 10 dollar foreigner deposit.

There's lots and lots. Apparantely in seoul it costs 2,000 won? Steep steep! I live in a small town and videos are 800won and DVDs are 1,200. Strangely, the late fees are only 200 won a day, so its really really cheap if you're late returning them. Like I usually am. Better than paying like $5 for a one night rental back home.. that really sucks.

I've gotten hit with the 10,000 won foreigner deposit and also had to give my phone number and employer's information. I'm not really sure what they wanted that for but just in case, I didn't rent any porn.

I buy more DVDs than I rent. They're just that cheap.

I've never been asked to pay the big-nose rental deposit. I think places are less likely to ask (or even know about it) the fewer big-noses they see.

well be more specific then and stop asking stupid questions. If you want some straight answers ask straight questions. If your not here, then just hold your horses. Netflix? where do you think you are coming to?

ahh yes.... drifter you have fell into a classic daves esl trap, whereby you post a really simple request, and since you didnt use the search function on here, you immediately get jumped by everyone for asking an insanely simple question, its a good thing you didn't misspell anything on your post or you would have gotten the business for that as well, that being said DVD's were the entertainment during the week for me over there and they are as ample and available as garbage is in korea.
