Canadians banned from group for cultural understanding
Quote:
When contacted by a Korea Herald reporter by e-mail, the organizer of the group, Bernard Carleton, elaborated further, "The thing is, CANADIANS ARE SCUM! They are self-loving, welfare supporting, over taxing, work ethic hating scum!!! They are not welcome in our group."

clearly someone doesn't know the meaning of the word irony

I thought you were talking about the ad that runs in the back of Seoul Scene. It's called World Class, and it's ostensibly for cultural understanding and tolerance, but it adds: "No Canadians Please."

I hope for his sake that it's not his real email addy posted in that article. Other than that, it has to be the funniest thing I've read in a long time...I totally want to go to one of these meetings.

I have seen that one too. It makes me laugh every time.

I am wondering if they perhaps have too many Canadian members already.

I wonder where Benard is from???

Maybe from America. Why?
Because the Aussies & Kiwis like us, the Brits are indifferent towrd us, and Americans are like close family members who like a good argument once in a while. Very Happy

Or maybe he is a disgruntled Canadian who is trying to escape from the nonsense back hone.

Could be Quebecois. Actually after some of the Canadians I've met here I can't say I blame him too much.

The guy who wrote that is a Canadian; as mentioned before most people are too indifferent toward Canadians to have such strong feelings against Canadians.

I do agree with some of his statements though.

Which statements do you agree with? Other than the over-taxed one, the rest is pure slander.
As for the tax's, it's a mark on the Government, not Canadians as a whole.
Welfare supporting? Well, it has it's downfalls, but we still have a great system when used correctly, and not taken advantage of, can really help people in need out. What it is meant for.

I don't care really where this guy is from, but if his name is real and his email is real, he should have had more sense than to let it be published in the paper.
Doesn't this border on promotion of hatred?
This guy obviously has some issues.

That was my feeling. Nothing Canadians hate more is some guy in a pub that a) can't accept he's American and answerable for all of America's crimes b) non-Americans who can't accept they're living in substandard nations. Haven't they seen the UN surveys that say Canada is number 1?

Laughing And if you want to meet a few Canadians like that there's no better place than an ex-pat bar in Korea.

Oh, we haven't been number 1 for about 8 years now. One year, we were even about 9th. I think in 2005, we were put at 4th or 5th.

Just checked.

1. Norway
2. Iceland
3. Australia
4. Luxembourg
5. Canada
6. Sweden
7. Switzerland
8. Ireland
