What's the best DMZ tour to go on?
Does anyone know if any tours run on Sunday? Any good tour companies you can recommend I check out?
thanks in advance |

You can also pick up leaflets about DMZ tours run by Korean tour operators in Itaewon and other tourist offices. However, I think they only go to the 3rd tunnel, the Observatory etc not the Joint Security Area.
If you want to go to the JSA then USO is your best bet !

We just took the train up to the dmz and bought tickets there for a korean tour.
No JSA though
It was cool enough. Tunnel and Dora were cool... except the guards wouldn't let us take pictures from Dora.
If i did it again i would make sure to go to the JSA. |

Hey, I was wondering how the logistics of this would work. I guess for the USO trips you have to buy the tickets in advance, right? Does the trip leave from Seoul or is it easy to get to the start of the tour from Seoul? Is there enough time to do this on a 2-day weekend or would I be better off waiting for 3 days? |

In what way has the USO tour gone downhill? I've never taken it, just curious. |

Just went to 3rd tunnel and Dorasan on Wednesday. Very cool especially if you are with a Korean National.
JSA tours are only for NON Koreans. Unless you book them 6 months in advance.

The tunnel was a waste of time, in my opinion.
Take the JSA tour. That's what you're going to want to see anyway. Anything else isn't the same.
After lunch was over, I just wanted to go home. The tunnel is just a long cement walk underground. Both my mom and dad were disappointed by it, after the great morning tour. Its as if they just tacked it on at the end, to get people to spend money at the KOREAN-run musuem, gift shop, and snack bars.
The observation deck is semi-cool, just because you get to see North Korean countryside and the road to Kaesong. The bus ride down to the final subway stop, and the road leading into N.K. is also interesting, and a nice bonus from other tours I've taken in the past. Someday the tour will take you all the way up to some factory in Kaesong, I'm willing to hope. |

Has anyone done the Panmunjom Travel Center tour (www.koreadmztour.com)? They offer the JSA now.
I'm trying to choose between two tours, for my family - would appreciate any advice from folks that've been there.
Both include "Camp Bonifas and tour of JSA (Conference room, the 3rd Check Point, Freedom house)".
On top of that, in one we'd take the "Freedom Highway to Imjingak...ID check at Unification Bridge and tour of DMZ (The 3rd Infitration Tunnel,Dorasan Observatory ,Dorasan Station)"
In the other, we'd take the Freedom Highway to the Mt Odu unification observatory.
Are the Dorasan spots cool? How about Mt. Odu?
Thanks a lot. |

what exactly is so cool about the JSA? It's just a building where both sides hold talks, or is there more to it? |
