Can't believe someone actually figured out what all that writing is, but they did:

http://lost.cubit.net/pics/2x17/blastDoorMapOverlay.jpg

There's lots of Latin phrases on there, including (translated):

A mouse does not rely on just one hole. (Plautus)
It's a bad plan that can't be changed. (Publilius Syrus)
I think we're on the same wavelength
Lift up your hearts
and...

Save yourself from hell

Shocked

I think the black lights were on the side of the doors.

I can't believe someone was actually able to figure out what all of that writing was. I think it's probably someone who works for the show because I played around with it a bit in photoshop, and it was virtually impossible to get most of the writings to appear more legible.

I think Jack and Kate are gonna hook up...maybe the island is turning her into a sex fiend.

Maybe we'll get to see Sayid reeeeaaaallllly torture "Henry" soon...That would be nice. Cool

I thought it was one of the season's best episodes, though I was a bit disappointed that we didn't learn how Locke became paralyzed.

By the way, why do you insist the supplies were dropped from a hot air balloon?

I thought I said why. Because a plane or a helicopter would have definitely been heard for miles. Unless the plane was so high up that it could be heard, but that's pretty high. And a box of kraft dinner wouldn't be undamaged if the cargo was dropped from 50,000 feet.

I guess it's possible that it wasn't dropped at all, but made to look that way, but I don't think so.

The mac-n-cheese could certainly be undamaged if dropped from a plane at a high altitude, because it was bundled with a lot of other rations, and was dropped by parachute. However, it'd be near impossible to drop rations from that high, by parachute, and have them land where intended.

This might be explained in the next episode, which is Hurleycentric, if I'm not mistaken.

BTW, was I the only one who thought, when Locke was trapped under the "blast door," that he might lose the use of his legs again, and that we'd get an answer for how he initially lost the use of them in the flashback?

Nope. I thought that too.

Some of you folks think a bit too hard about this stuff. I think you can't expect everything to make perfect sense and follow Newtonian physics to a tee. Would they have heard a helicopter? Yes. Should Kate's armpits be hairy by now? Yes! Suspend belief a tad and enjoy the damn show. Wink

There have been references to killing a martyr in a couple of episodes that some believe may have been hints at the upcoming fate of Henry Gale (someone singing 'Redemption Song' and someone else quoting a line from Dostoyevsky). It's fairly obvious that Henry Gale is another of the many references about the duality of man in series. Martyr or murderer?

The theory seems quite solid, unless it's a red herring.

Have any of you seen the movie, The Life of David Gale? Without giving away too many details about the movie, a martyr is at the center of the story. So, Gale might be a reference to this movie. Well, interestingly enough, King Henry II shared responsibility in the death of Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury. Some say he was a martyr, while others say he was murdered because he stired things up with the king (disagreements about the supremacy of canon law over civil law). Those any of this sound familiar?

A not so thinly veiled shot at me perhaps? And no, I don't have a sock Catman.

And again, I never had a problem with people trying to figure things out.. You know this. Don't try to play this and something it's not. Let it go.

As for the show.. this past ep was fantastic... Very curious to see how Henry fits in the puzzle.. was the original Henry just delivering supplies when his balloon went down? Why did whitey Henry take his identity? As I mentioned on the other site, this is one of those eps that will get people who were recently down on the show back into it...

It looks to me that all of the hatches lead to a main hatch which is probably the "brains" of the whole operation.. of course, I'm sure we won't find out any of that good stuff until next season.

I can't imagine a hot-air balloon dropping off a huge crate of supplies by parachute.....It could've been one of those silent-black helicopters that the U.S. government supposedly has....(Conspiracy Theory with Mel Gibson)

Anyone else find it interesting that the person with the most shocking, bizarre back story, Claire and the baby, has had only one episode dedicated to telling their story?
I think that baby holds the key to the whole show somehow.

I think The Cube is the "genius" who tried to use this thread to sell a DVD of Lost programs he downloaded over the net. We tore him a new one for that. He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer so don't worry.

Sir Fink's got it right as far as I'm concerned:

Post of the week.
I'm going to stop trying to hold LOST to a higher standard- it is after all just a tv show.

Speaking of people who should have suspended disbelief...

Cocaine smuggled in Virgin Mary statues

You know that trick didn't work in the TV show either.

Seriously, though, how many times are we going to rely on the "Oh no! We might not be able to push the button in time! Whew, we got to it at the last second" bit? It's like watching that other show about castaways and knowing that Gilligan's going to screw up the plan again. Laughing
