My guesses:
1. a white elephant - According to legend/myth, the Buddha's mother dreamt of a white elephant, and upon waking, she knew that she was pregnant with a special child.
2. an empty chair - When Alexander the Great conquered into India, he brought with him the Greek Pagan idea of having statues and other representations in temples. Before that, there were no statues of Buddha in Buddhist temples. Instead, there were empty chairs representing the fact that Buddha had departed this world.
3. ?  ? I'm stuck. I know that the lotus flower and wheel were borrowed from Hinduism, as Buddha was a Hindu who wanted to reform Hinduism (He disagreed with the caste system and other things. The dot on his forehead was also borrowed from Hinduism.)
My guess would be a bell. Some sects use a bell, as the hope is that its chime with dispel ignorance. |

A good Buddhist film has recently come out on DVD. Aje Aje Bara Aje aka Come, Come, Come Upward was directed by director Im Kwon-taek back in the 1980s, and had mesmerized over its two-hour run.
But the king of all Buddhist movies is Why Has Bodhi-dharma Left for the East? |

Why Has Bodhi-dharma Left for the East is indeed a Korean movie but unavailable in Korea. You can order it in the United States.
Why can't the Buddha vacuum in tight areas? He has no attachments. |
