Vacation days exist like this:
In the first year, by law an employee in a company with less than 500 persons is entitled to one day off a week and one additional day off per month at a minimum. So if an employer says "work six days a week for seven hours a day, except the last week of the month", that's legal.
After completing a year of work with a near perfect attendance, a person can get earn up to 10 extra days off. If more than a few days were missed (due to illness or whatever), then this bonus is not legally required.
By the virtue of a five-day work week, pretty much everyone here is already getting nearly twice as many vacation days than the legally required minimum. |

Just take one of their computers and slash your boss's tires and smash the windows of his car. That will more than cover your vacation.
You could also tell one of your classes that the envelopes go to you today. Teach them all about accountant-teachers in Korea. |

I served notice after six months; I had only taken one vacation day. I told them that I might be late for work or miss morning kindy a few times for job interviiews. I did this a few times and gave them a few days' notice; usually one of the other FTs would cover for me, as I had for them before. I also used this period to take a sick day - the only one I've ever taken in Korea. What could they do? Fire me?
I'm know it burned them up inside, especially when they saw me coming in all dressed up after an interview when I had started dressing like an utter slob for work, but f-them. They didn't want real teachers, and I because I actually wanted to teach. They should have put 'clown / monkey / babysitter / entertainer / liar' on their job ad and not 'teacher' if that's what they wanted.
Just tell them you're taking day X off and take it. |
